The haha button is a nice quick way to acknowledge that you got someone's joke or witty comment. And the Wow button I use quite a bit. Folks here have posted some really special or extreme occasions, events and mile stones.
I don't use it, and don't pay much attention to announcements when someone likes my posts. It feels artificial and for me anyway, if I read something where I'd like to respond, I'll type something out rather than a simple "click."I like it!![]()
I'll give you one. I'll bet you get your share. Is someone keeping score as to who gets the most likes in a given time? Is there a prize for that if you are the winner? Can I give myself a like (I'll try it)? Edit: can't give myself a like...![]()
That okay. I had all the competition I ever want at Megacorp. Skip the "score keeping" if it's up to me but YMMV.
The Like button is a great addition to the forum. It's a quick, easy way to give any comment a thumbs up without actually having to type out and post a reply. Seems like most folks here hit Like now instead a posting a "+1" reply, which makes reading through threads and comments a bit easier.
Well the site does keep track of the most reaction scores which includes the Like response. Is someone keeping score as to who gets the most likes in a given time? Is there a prize for that if you are the winner? Can I give myself a like (I'll try it)? Edit: can't give myself a like...![]()
I see thumbs up icon. Is that supposed to be thanks? Holding the like button is weird. I never would’ve found it without the tip! Thanks?Hold down the like button and a sub menu will pop up with various options.
When you select the icon from the pop up menu it will show you what in means to the right. Yes thumbs up is like.I see thumbs up icon. Is that supposed to be thanks? Holding the like button is weird. I never would’ve found it without the tip! Thanks?
I agree perhaps some updates could be considered if easily done.I like Like. It is helpful to see what comments have received Likes from members whose opinions I have come to find persuasive. I have seen other Xenforo-based forums with additional or (in my opinion) more intuitive reactions. One that I find useful is a Bullseye--as in, "this comment hits the bullseye."
I find the Love reaction here, with the hearts over the eyes, a little awkward. I might strongly agree with a comment, but do I really "love" it?
And the "Haha" reaction, with the tears coming out of the eyes, might be confused with an expression of sadness. A wide grin--something I have seen on the other Xenforo-based forum I mentioned--might be more intuitive.
Yes, I know whoever is in charge of messing with the forum software is a volunteer and has limited time for tweaks like this. Just some suggestions.
Really?Well the site does keep track of the most reaction scores which includes the Like response.
As in Tony the Tiger "GREAT!!"?? That wouldn't have been my first guess but maybe I'm wrong (again).Overall though the update had beenGREAT!!!
Ok, I just gave you a Like back!I'll give you one. I'll bet you get your share.![]()
I think you could still send a personal note by using the start conversation option in the pop up menu when you click on someone's icon. You just use thanks in the title box.I prefer the old "thanks" mechanism when people could comment privately on a post they liked.
Kinda where I'm at. Don't want our little family Forum turned into FB or X. But, yes, I do use it from time to time when I think about it.I'm not wild about it, as it feels one step closer to making this forum feel like social media - and I already have enough Facebook in my life! I like the more traditional styles of forum that encourage thoughtful comment, as opposed to scrolling, quick views, a hasty push of the "like" button and on we scroll, to the next dopamine hit. They are a welcome antidote to modern social media platforms.
Having said that, I do use the like button here![]()

Exactly. This IS social media.Any forum is social media. Even the ancient ones.
Well yes of course, but there are differences in how it's implemented. We all have our individual preferences regarding how we communicate.Any forum is social media. Even the ancient ones.
Any forum is social media. Even the ancient ones.
All true, but the moderation on this forum makes our Forum fairly unique in comparison to the "biggies" that we all know.Exactly. This IS social media.
Gosh, I would never laugh AT someone - at least not publicly. So for those I’ve given aI agree perhaps some updates could be considered if easily done.
Perhaps two thumbs up![]()
for strongly agree? Or you mean like this
With the hahabutton I can't always tell if they are laughing with you or at you sometimes. Big

Maybe just a bigfor love a comment?
Overall though the update had beenGREAT!!!
