How much is domestic first class worth to you?

As I've noted a few times, we fly First or not at all. After 4 million miles we tried coach once when I first retired. Never again.

There's a lot more to just the seat and the preflight Bloody. The check-in line usually has only a few people ahead of you and some airports have separate (short) security lines as well.

I'm a big believer in "If you don't fly First Class, your heirs will"

Totally agreed on the Priority check-in line but I haven't seen priority security lines in the US in years. They seem to have disappeared about the time Pre-Check came in. I got Pre-Check on my Boarding Pass a lot before I even signed up for it; apparently they didn't have enough people signed up to fill the lines. As more people signed up, airports went to regular and Pre-check TSA lines rather than maintaining a third Priority line.

I have found Priority security lines outside of the US when flying business class- a nice perk, especially at Heathrow.

If it's a nonstop cross-country, suffice it to say it would be more than I'd pay for, say, Portland to SFO. I almost never find the price for F to be worth paying, but occasionally there are good enough deals in first that we'll splurge if the flight is at least 3-4 hours.

I will never select the base-cheap economy (no carry on, no seat selection). It is worth the extra 50-ish to do those things. And maybe to avoid a middle seat when travelling solo.

So I get decent boarding and seat no matter what. To upgrade to First for domestic is kinda meh compared to international, so it had better be a longer haul, and come with lounge access on the departure end.

One of my requirements now is that I won’t sit in a 3 (or more) seats together configuration.

Cross-country flights I look for the cheapest first/business class tickets. I still find international business class too expensive these days. I prioritize aisle seats for all flights.

For an additional update, I just received an offer to pay $25 for Priority Access at check-in and boarding. To those that mentioned staying with their roll-aboard, that seems to be what you're purchasing. Although not a more comfortable seat for 2.5h, it's hardly the $250 cost of a first class ticket.

We only have small bags that fit under the seat and our typical boarding group is, "All zones. All rows."
