How much Vitamin D do you take?

I golf 4 to 5 days a week in direct hot Las Vegas sun year round but always wear long sleeves and wear spf 50. My Vit D test came back as 19. Hence I am now on 4000 IU with Vit K2. My Vit D is now in the 50-60 range.
Wow! How long did it take to make the turn around with that level of supplementation?

My next blood was 6 months later and saw immediate improvement. I am now at 50 to 70 with twice a year tests.

Very nice! Thanks for answering.
I was really surprised how high mine went in a year of 4K (24-90) and asked AI why and it suggested mine might have been higher than expected due to my size. It is stored in body fat after all and I'm on the slim side. IDK I've been taking a break from it for now.

How much Vitamin D3 supplement do you take? Did you have blood work done to check your levels, just pick a generic amount and go with that, or is it part of a multivitamin? Also, do you live in a sunny area where you produce Vitamin D naturally outside, or a grey cloudy area where you spend most time indoors?

I live in Washington state (clouds and rain most of the winter) and currently take 1000 IU daily. That's just what my previous doc recommended, but I have no idea if that's too much or too little. I thought about asking my current doc to do blood tests, but haven't gotten that far yet... :)
1000 IU is kinda the “default safe guess”, but yeah it’s a bit of a shot in the dark without labs. I’m in a cloudy place too and ended up bumping to 2000 IU daily, felt no difference honestly but my blood work stopped being borderline low. Some people need even 3000 to 4000 IU to get into a decent range, depends how your body absorbs it. I’d just get the test done once, saves you from guessing forever.

I am really into aging healthfully. Have all my various bloodwork dating to 1983. But I must be doing something wrong here as I have never had my Vitamin D levels checked. Are there some symptoms of D deficiency i am unaware of? I have taken 1000 IU daily for decades. I tried upping it but never felt right. I also tried pairing it with K2 but also didn’t feel right. I am in the sun daily so never have been overly concerned about my D levels.

Vitamin D deficiency causes rickets in kids and osteomalacia (bone pain) in older adults. I had knee pain at night for years and at first tried all kinds of exercises hoping to fix it. Then COVID hit, along with hospital reports that low vitamin D at admission correlated to poorer outcomes, and I suddenly realized that I might be deficient (Seattle area, indoor job). I took it so I wouldn't be a COVID statistic, but it also cured my knee pain.
