How "Smart" is your home?

It's actually a good exercise to recap what I have, and highlight how heteroclite all those systems are...
My main 'hub' is Ring
- 7 cameras
- 1 smart lock
- 1 garage door opener
- 1 smart thermostat
- 1 door bell
- 3 smoke / CO
- 1 alarm listener (listens to 1 Heat Sensor in the garage + 5 not-Ring interconnected smoke / CO)
- 1 smart switch (outside garage lights)
- 2 smart outlets (attic fan, septic air pump)
- 10 contact sensors
- 6 motions
- 5 flood
- 1 glass brake
= 40

myQ
- Garage door opener (App can be launched from Ring, but not integrated)
= 0 (counted above)

Rain Bird
- 6 zones (but I only use 5)
= 5

LG
- TV
- Washer / Dryer combo
= 2

Samsung
- Range
- Fridge
= 2

Apple
- 1 AppleTV 4k
- 2 HomePod mini
= 3

QuietCool
- 1 attic fan
= 1

Tesla
- 1 car
- 1 wall connector
- 24 solar panels
- 3 powerwalls
- 1 grid
- 1 home
= 6 (counting the solar panels as 1 device and powerwalls as well)

Dreame
- robot vacuum / mopping
= 1

TOTAL
60 devices !!!
9 control Apps !!!

I wish everything could be controlled in 1 App...

What is smart about all this?
a/ I use Amazon Alexa Routines to control the smart switch (outside garage lights) at sunset / sunrise
b/ I use Amazon Alexa Routines to control the smart outlet (septic air pump) at 7:30am / 9:30pm
c/ I use the flood sensors for leaks detection AC / water heater, sinks and fridge
d/ I use the alarm listener to bridge the heat sensor (for the Powerwalls) to the Ring ecosystem (and Fire Department)
e/ RainBird is fully automated (2 programs for the 5 zones)
f/ Dreame can be scheduled / automated from the App; but I start the robot manually (from the App or Base Station)
g/ Tesla can be automated with NetZero App (I have it) with the 'Automation' features. But for now, I'm just using NetZero App for extra monitoring of the Tesla ecosystem
h/ smart thermostat (Amazon Smart Thermostat) can be automated with Alexa Routines, but I'm not using them ATM. Just controlling it from Ring.
i/ QuietCool has 1 program with 2 temperature triggers and 1 humidity trigger, it is configured in 'Smart' Mode'

Of course everything is WiFi (except QuietCool which is Bluetooth, that's why I've added a smart outlet) so it can be controlled while I'm away.

Oh wait, I'm not done yet... Waiting on a 'smart ceiling fan' and 'under-sink smart reverse osmosis system' (not 100% sure about how smart will those ones will be).

And next year I will get a robot lawn mower, probably MAM Motion

Cheers.
SurfFL, that’s impressive that you have these all inventoried! I have many of the same things, Ring, MyQ, LG Thinq Vivint, Resideo/ Honeywell thermostat, etc. I just “cut the Cord” of Cable TV and home phone with Verizon Fios and kept the internet. As part of this change, they sent me a new High speed Router to replace my outdated equipment. When the new network was set up, I had to update the WiFi settings on everything in the house to work with the new router. It was a challenging job, but I got it done in a day! I wonder how long it would take you with your devices?

I just had a new router installed today. Our 300Mbps fiber was apparently upgraded to 1Gbps. The technician set the router up in the shop beforehand (apparently he was able to access all the passwords, which was a little scary) and it only took him 15 minutes to remove the old one, install the new one, and test it for speed & functionality and he was out the door. I haven't tried to print anything yet, but the two laptops and the tablet seem to connect just fine with no re-connection required.
That was refreshing, as I thought I would have to fiddle with things to make them work.

I got an email from Google today that said in a few months they will inactivate the online service of my Nest thermostat.

"Dear Google, I am no longer going to permit you to use my information at no charge. Please pay the enclosed invoice to avoid collection and finance charges."

After reading this, I feel a bit inadequate.

All he probably did was use the same password that was used on the old router and everything seamlessly connected to the new router with no extra work needed. At least that's the way I was told to do it when I changed providers and it worked.

Thanks. I fear the same thing... I own my cable modem (I have cut the cord maybe 15 years ago; I used to have HBO / MAX; but I've just switched to Prime Video - I don't subscribe to Amazon Prime), it's a good one: Netgear Orbi + 1 satellite, but an old model; still works with Xfinity, but they recommend to upgrade. If / when it dies; it will probably take a day to reconfigure all the Apps etc... Unless I can give it the same name / password / security protocol on the network, maybe magically it will work (I have to research this via AI chat or Google Search).

3 Roku TV's not connected to Alexa
Ring Alarm is automated to automatically change to away mode when I leave and to home mode when I return with voice notification to my cellphone for each.
Amazon plugs to control living room lamps, lights auto on at sunset and off when I say Alexa -Goodnight.
Amazon plug on the bedroom lamp, voice controlled as necessary
Echo devices in most rooms, one as my bedroom alarm when needed waking up to smooth jazz.
Ring indoor camera that is now unplugged after it recorded me wandering around the house stark naked multiple times. It did do a great job when I went to the UK last year though. I logged in a couple of times a day to check the living room and just as well I did, I'd screwed up the lighting programming and the lights were running all day and night instead of just in the evening to look like someone was home.
Honeywell Smart Thermostat, I haven't tried to automate that one to lower the temperature when I leave the house but I should give it a try, I had my previous thermostat set up to do that.
I'm getting ready to upgrade my bathroom and closet light switches to ones that turn off when no motion detected in the room, only the garage has that feature right now.
I also have a MyQ to control the garage door for a couple of years now but have never connected it yet just through sheer laziness. Recently I've been turning around and driving back home just to double check that I closed the door when I left so it's definitely time to get that setup.

I have no interest in connecting my kitchen appliances to the network at this time.
