I was approved after about 80 days for Social Security after applying on Dec 1, 2024 and I received a packet today explaining my social security monthly payments and it shows the amount minus the Medicare insurance A & B & C which is $185.
They deposited my Dec & Jan amounts which did not deduct the $185 last month. It looks like they saw the $185 had been paid with a automatic deduction I had setup.

I wonder though if the next deposit which will deduct the $185 do so while my automatic deduction will ALSO deduct another $185?

I want to see if I can cancel the automatic deduction. I went to the Social Security ssa.gov and medicare.gov websites but did not find where to see what I am paying and how to stop that $185 payment
Question: Anyone know?
I can call but would like to do this at the website.

I can't answer your specific question but I went on MC before starting SS. For 5 years, I paid quarterly. As soon as I began SS, they began taking out my MC payment and it was seamless with no double payments.

Were you using EasyPay? I thought they would stop it, automatically withdraw the premium from the SS check, and reimburse you any overpayments from the transition. Hmmm.

However, perhaps you had already paid for 3 months of Medicare premiums and that’s why? You still had 2 left when you started SS?

If you are using EasyPay I believe there is information about that at Medicare.gov under how to pay your premium. Medicare Easy Pay

Also, if you applied in Dec for payments to start in Dec, was there also some backlog to catch up with?

I was on Medicare for several years prior to claiming SS and was having the premium automatically deducted. Once I started collecting SS it automatically switched over to being deducted from my SS instead of my bank account. And the first payment was duplicated out of both and was automatically refunded to my bank account.

What if I don’t the funds coming out of SS check because I prefer to pay it using my HSA?
We will reimburse ourselves from the HSA once the premiums are deducted from the SS check. The 1099-SA will provide good documentation for the qualified expense. So to me it’s the same difference.

They charge a $10 fee for that.
Oh, wow! I haven't paid anything out of my HSA in 12 years but there didn't used to be a fee. Maybe there was a fee if I requested a check. I'll make very large payment some day (tens of thousands). If they charge $10, I'll probably be okay with that.

Haven't read all the comments but yes, you'll get reimbursed for any double payments. My wife just went through this. It took her about 9 months to get a refund. Medicare makes these refunds every quarter and Medicare also told us that if you're a new member they automatically wait 6 months to issue a refund. Someone who has been with Medicare longer than 6 months would get their refund during the next quarters refund period.

To be clear, just using my HSA credit card doesn’t cost me anything.
It’s just if I want them to cut me a check to reimburse myself.
No check involved if you reimburse yourself with Fidelity. You just do an online withdrawal. No fee involved either.

Is there any way to link a bank account?

Don’t know, I don’t have to worry about it for 5 years, so I’ll worry about it then.

Same with my husband though our state allows monthly payments for Part B.

When he started SS, they automatically took care of it. I’m not on SS yet so I still pay through Easy Pay.

Contacted SS this week about the Medicare part B reimbursement after starting SS payments at FRA. They said this is handled automatically and typically takes about 4 months to receive the check/direct deposit.

If there is a double payment (sent in quarterly and deducted from your SS payment), you will get that refunded.
