HRAs and How They Can Be Used

Retired from MC this June. I have an HRA account they contributed to while I was there. I am wondering how I can use these funds more specifically if they can be used for Cobra premiums or ACA premiums.

60 years of age come this August if that makes a difference.

Yes you can. I have an HRA my company funded as a retirement incentive and pay my ACA premiums with it

I have an HRA and I reimburse myself for Medicare premiums as well and as my Medigap and Part D premiums. Also dentist, optometrist out of pocket medical costs.

The above would say no you cannot use it for premiums if you have a "standard" HRA. Check with your employer to see what type you have.

Update.

So I checked with my former HR department and was informed that the account is not available to me prior to Medicare eligibility @65.

Was hoping to be able to use it to offset premium costs for Cobra and Market Place premiums until then.
