Hello. I have been reading this excellent forum for over a year now. I am just turning 55 and have been inspired by the paths all of you have taken and decisions that were made to get there. Some more fortunate than others, but you have made great accomplishments though being frugal and patient.

I am one the ones that say, I wished I would have started saving sooner. I am fortunate that I had a decent start and really started to accelerate and become more focused on growing our dollars. I started learning everything about money and getting from point A to point B as much as possible. It has become a passion. Why? Everyday at work I would see people miserable, angry, hate their jobs but couldn't just up and move on because of poor spending habits. I said I will not be that person. I will not be 80 yrs old greeting people at Walmart and such. I watched peoples habits of spend throughout their lives and end up with a lot of stuff... but no money. Today, I tell people...if we both get paid today, you get your $1,000,and I get mine. You go shopping, maybe a new tattoo, buy some smokes and drinks and I don't spend mine. Next check, I now have $2,000 and you still only $1,000. Throughout life, you acquired alot of things but still have no money.

It burns me to hear folks say, the rich should pay more. No... those folks put their money to work and earned it, you selfishly squandered yours. This has truly been a life changer and now my hobby to keep educating myself of staying on track until the day comes that I am not punching another time clock and have to set the alarm. The wife and I are getting very close

Thanks for moving from lurker to poster, Drifter!

Welcome to the forum!

Congratulations on taking control over your financial life while there was still time, you'll reach your goal soon I'm sure.

It is transformative to give yourself the power over your own financial destiny by saving and investing. Some truly can't and I have compassion for them, many others could save enough but make a million little decisions to spend instead.

Why would you set the alarm?

Sorry. Not have to set the alarm or be on a schedule.
