Folks,

I set up my ID.me account, and also set up my bank Direct Deposit for IRS Refund.

My question is: where do I navigate on their website to verify if my bank account is correctly entered?

Website is somewhat confusing.

Can someone help me where I can find it?

Thanks

I didn't use ID.me to set up my refund. I put in my bank account into TurboTax when I filed and got my refund in my bank account that way. How did you file your taxes? Your bank account should have been included in your filing.

My accountant filed my taxes. I didn't give her my bank account info

Sorry. Cannot help you there. When we used a CPA, we always provided to our CPA with our bank account for direct deposit.

Login to IRS.gov, select "profile" on the header bar, then "Banking information" on the side bar. You'll see if an account is saved and you can add/change accounts there.

Your accountant should have provided you with a copy of the tax return she filed for you - probably a paper copy, but possibly electronically.

Take a look at that tax return, specifically Form 1040 lines 34 through 36. Those lines should tell you exactly what will happen with your refund.

If there are numbered entries on line 35b/c/d, then you can double check the numbers there against the numbers on the bottom of a check (if checking, which is most common) from your bank account. For savings you can crosscheck with a statement or your bank's website.

Since bank account information is pretty sensitive, the paper copies we provide sometimes put asterisks or leaves 35b/c/d blank. At that point the only way I know of is to call the accountant and ask them to help you double check the numbers. Maybe they will read it to you over the phone, or mail you an unredacted copy, or something.

I don't think the IRS would put bank account information on a transcript or verify it over the phone with you.

IRS sent me a letter saying they owe me a refund, and don't have my bank account for direct deposit.
So, I set up my ID.me account, and entered my bank accountant info.
Now, I would like to know if I entered my account number correctly
That is why, I would like to check

You will enjoy this…. IRS did same thing to me. I guess according to them, I paid them to much and they declared they needed to send me a refund with same directions. So I dutifully set up the account on their website…Only to find about 6 weeks later a check in the mail from the IRS….Whatever.

Back maybe ten years ago, before ID.me existed, I manually punched my credit union checking account info into Form 1040 using FreeTaxUSA for the first time.

So now every year when I log into FreeTaxUSA, it automatically copies that data into the new Form 1040...
