A couple years or so ago, I bought some dishwasher pods/tablets at my local grocery store. Nothing fancy but gosh do they get the dishes sparkling clean. Was so good that I stocked up. But now, I only have a few pods left. Also, looks like the store doesn't carry them anymore. I hate when stores decide to remove a good thing.

Now what do I do? I've looked at Amazon and they have their own Amazon Basics brand. But reviews are mixed. Some say it's great, other say don't bother. The same with the brand from Sam's Club.

What's a person to do?

I have hit such a crisis since CVS stopped carrying my favorite store brand dental floss! :'(

Silly me. Crisis averted for about another year. I had some more stashed away that I didn't know.

So, now I have about 70 pods remaining of the good stuff :) .

That brand I'm talking about is Signature brand from Jewel/Osco stores.

Are they the same? The same Signature? I know Kirkland is the Costco brand.

The one I'm talking about I think may be a different Signature brand.

You can buy Cascade dishwasher pods and they are available everywhere including at Costco.

Liquid are too messy, I only use pods. I used Finish Powerball Quantum pods, and then Cascade Platinum Plus pods - both from Costco. Both worked perfectly fine. I didn't know one brand was substantially different than others?

The pods pictured in post #5 above are NOT (Costco) Kirkland Signature. Looks like a house brand clone, Safeway carries them, or did at one time. Signature HOME Dishwasher Detergent Packs 32 ct. Just $2.99 (9¢/load) - Super Safeway

Looks like Safeway is another version of Jewel/Osco. I followed a link from Safeway's site and that led me to Jewel/Osco. I'll have to look a bit closer to see if any are in stock at a reasonable location.

When we bought our Bosch DW 8 years ago, the salesman and the installer told us never to use the pods. The outer shell doesn't always breakdown and will clog the inlet to the pump. We have heeded their advice.

I switched to the big BJs wholesale club jugs a while back (liquid not pods) and have been pretty happy. They seem to last a long time, work well and are pretty cheap. I’m sure Costco has something similar if you get into a bind. LOL

We went pods after getting a new Bosch... it is MUCH easier than powder or liquid and the price difference is nothing...

We use the Quantum ones, but I think any of the top of the line pods are good..

Our Safeway carries signature brand.
The Costco generic ones don't dissolve completely in our dishwasher.
I have switched to using the ones that have liquid and powder, such as Quantum or Finish

I’m sure that’s possible, but it’s never happened to us. Some, like Finish don’t have an “outer shell.” I clean our (builder grade) dishwasher filter every 6 months, and I’ve never found any debris at all. If an outer shell didn’t break down, the filter would catch it and it wouldn’t pass until it breaks down (in subsequent washes). An undissolved pod would suggest blocked/dirty/broken dispenser door and/or cold water? YMMV

I liked pods until I read how much pollution they add via micro plastics...

We use the 'Finish' brand of dishwasher pods. They come in gel-tab or foil-wrapped hard tabs. We've used both and prefer the hard pods was the gel type tend to stick together and leak.

"Finish" is available just about everywhere (near us anyway)...Target, Wally, Menards, or on Amazon. They get our dishes, pots and pans very clean..

I went back to powder after seeing glasses with built up residue and etching. Turned out the issue was using too much detergent with my soft water. Can’t cut back the dosage of a pod. Now the problem is just finding powder in the store.

LOL, yea... before I went to pods tried to find powder and there were LOTS of different pods with various amounts etc. that took up half a row of shelf but only two options for powder hidden up high....

THIS is my biggest whine about COSTCO. They'll start carrying something and I'll get used to buying it there. Then, suddenly, they don't carry it any more.

I've been told that it's 1) Supplier can't meet our demand, so we won't carry it. 2) Supplier won't meet our price point, so we quit carrying it.

How about letting COSTCO customers decide if they want to buy it at whatever price COSTCO has to charge to put it on their shelves?

I've had great luck with Walmart's house brand.

They work better than the name brands I've tried. They all clean OK, but the "fancy" pods seem to confuse my dishwasher. I suspect the extra dyes and/or suds trigger the turbidity sensor, so the dishwasher adds an hour to the cycle thinking it's an exceptionally dirty load. Walmart pods don't cause this.

There's a very informative video about dishwashers here. For the record, he recommends no-name brand pods if you use them, although he prefers powder.

I have the occasional issue with Costco’s Kirkland pods with an LG dishwasher. Sometimes the pods don’t dissolve completely. I have to double-check before unloading, otherwise I run the dishwasher again.

It’s annoying enough that I’ll try new pods once these are used up.

That’s what my apartment maintenance guy told me too. I’ve switched to a gel.

We can’t find the foil wrapped ones anymore. They come with some sort of tight wrapped plastic that is supposed to dissolve in the dishwasher. We’ve opened up several times and still have some soap powder in the tray. So we’ve started removing the plastic. If that doesn’t work then it’s something to do with our dishwasher which I’ve checked everything.
