In planning for ER and I am trying to determine what to expect in monthly premiums for Health Care Insurance. I live in Texas (47 years old), married and have two kids (16 &6). Without going to the specific health care providers, getting a quote and then getting hounded, I thought I'd ask the question here (my first post). I have been estimating $1000/month in 2013 dollars. Is this reasonable? Thanks in advance for any replies.

Truenorth418 thanks for the link, I was able to use it without including my email address and it provided the info I was looking for. It looks like my estimate is conservative, for the time being.

A lot of variables in play such as whether you and your family will qualify for subsidies, etc. Do not expect your exchange premium to reflect in any way the ehealthinsurance
prices quoted today. I am 48 in Mo and pay $76 for $5500 deductible (going to almost $88 next month). Based on other states that have pre announced their upcoming rates, I will be shocked if mine is under $300 for a similar plan on the exchanged next year.
