Program yesterday at Sun City Texas Veterans Memorial featured a plaque dedication to a soldier in the Continental Army, New Hampshire Regiment, Sergeant Thomas McNeil. Born in 1757, joined the army in 1776 to fight in the Revolutionary War. Served for 6 years and fought the indians in NY State.

The remarks about his life came from his GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT Grandson, who is a resident of Sun City. He explained that his father had done all the genealogy research years ago (and prior to the Internet).

After the war, the government was broke and couldn't pay the soldiers their wages so they were given land. Sgt McNeil was given 100 acres in, IFIRC, Pennsylvania, where he started a farm and married and had kids.

The GGGG Grandson, Daniel E. McNeil, spoke of the home built on the farm that the family lived in and how it was still standing and occupied today. Fascinating that he was able to trace his family back 258 years.

Thanks to all our Veterans..hope you all have a great day!
