While I respect the will of the moderators to limit the discussion of CryptoCurrency based on an intent to 'protect the consumer'; I think the facts and trends merit a second look into this policy. Things have changed a lot from Jan 2023 and we're clearly moving towards more common sense regulation (in the US) and crypto adoption.

Some interesting facts;

1. You can now buy a huge variety of fully regulated Crypto ETF's that directly hold Bitcoin, Ethereum, and others are sure to come. Billions of dollars have flowed into these products making them some of the fastest growing ETF's ever.
2. It's estimated that 40% of Americans adults now own crypto (93 million people!). That's up from 30% last year.
3. While I don't consider Crypto to be a partisan issue, there's been a noticeable change in the tone from our elected officials on this topic. I expect a fair amount of change to both our laws and regulators in this space in the upcoming months.
4. This has been one of the best performing asset classes over the last decade and is now probably a significant part of fellow forum members portfolios.

Hopefully, the developments in this space merit the ability to at least discuss them on this forum.

Please. No. Cryptos have no intrinsic value. As such they are not investments. They are simply a form of gambling .

I didn’t realize there was a “ban”here to threads on crypto. I agree with Kite rider that it should be reconsidered based on the many good points made (not sure why it was banned originally).

Thanks to audreyh1 for the link. Nothing has changed since that post and cryptocurrency continues to be an unwelcome topic.

As that post indicated, if and when the external (financial, legal and regulatory) environment changes, forum policy may be revisited.
