Funny guy:

"That said, a bike is much cheaper to run than a car. In fact, it takes only half a litre of fuel to get from your house to the scene of your first fatal accident. Which means that the lifetime cost of running your new bike is just 50p".

And much on operation of the 2-wheeled contraption which

"...will not stand up when left to its own devices. So, when you are not riding it, it must be leant against a wall or a fence. I’m told some bikes come with footstools which can be lowered to keep them upright. But then you have to lift the bike onto this footstool, and that’s like trying to lift up an American".

He’s always a funny guy and the article made me laugh. There’s a lot of truth in what he has written but he also made it clear that he doesn’t really understand the physics of a motorcycle’s dynamics. It always illuminating to discover an “expert” making glaring errors when they discuss a subject I know something about. It makes me wonder how much of what they say is true when the subject is an unfamiliar one.

Funny article. I'm gonna buy a motorcycle anyway. The hard part is deciding which one.

There are fantastic bargains on used bikes this time of year.

They're starting to show up now on craigslist - '06 Harley Sportster with windshield & saddlebags, $4900 down from $5800, I'd wager he'd take $4500 if presented with the green, '01 Suzuki Marauder (800cc) w/1900 miles for $3K "OBO", a dealer in PA has a new (apparently never sold) '06 Honda VTX1800R for $8k - that's $1k below kbb for a used one.....

I think I'll wait a couple more months. I have time and cash.
