My older brother tells me I was hatched, hence the name.
Plus I'm a newbie here, so it's appropriate!

I've been lurking for a couple of months and have read lots of posts, but
please take it easy on me if I ask something that's been discussed before.
(just post a link to that topic and I'll go read it.)

I'm 34, married, no kids yet, have no plans for early retirement yet, but I do save and would like
to use that cushion to enable me to not have to worry about changing careers in
the future to whatever appeals to me at the time. But if I'm healthy, I plan
to keep working until 65 or whatever. (easy for me to say that now)

Why then am I posting here? 'Cause you all crack me up and maybe I'll
be able to add something, who knows?

I've read plenty of books and watched lots of Suze (*duck*). No Brinker though.
Actually, I don't watch Suze anymore because her ego and bad jokes became
too much for me to handle. Plus hopefully I've graduated from "Suze school".

I've just finished "four pillars", and I was just reading a new book by Ben Stein
about retirement, it's somewhat interesting, called "Yes, You Can Still Retire Comfortably".

Others I've read:
Dave Ramsey, David Bach, Kiyosaki, Jean Chatsky, Millionaire next door, Your money or your life,
Eric Tyson, Charles Schwab, Bogle, multiple streams of income, Larry Burkett and Ron Blue (Christian),
Richest man in Babylon, The Wealthy Barber, etc.

I like the lazy approach, so I have mostly index stock mutual funds.

Ouch! Oh, that was a question bubbling up, so I'll probably post some more specifics to go
with my inquisitive posting later.

Betcha just can't wait, huh?

Welcome Just_Hatched,

Sounds like you are pretty well read. I am ashamed to say that I have not read Four Pillars yet. They do not have it at my library and have not done the state library search yet. You will find that there are some pretty smart folks here (not me) and that is why I like visiting here. Hope you post more later.

Just don't send Kiyosaki your money! Total scam artist, IMHO. :p :)

Welcome aboard, not everybody here is looking for RE (we even argue over what constitutes RE), the common ground is a desire for FI, so I'm sure you'll find plenty of people to commiserate with.

It's ironic actually - reading Rich Dad, Poor Dad is a big reason that I read so
many of the other books/authors I listed.

But once I got my head screwed back on straight, I realized that what he says
is correct, but..... I too think he's a scam. Also the Allen guy who wrote
multiple streams of income.

At least I didn't send anyone any money (well, except Vanguard.)

Hope they know what they're doing.......

I did the exact same thing. In a perverse way I guess I should thank him. ;)
