Las Vegas attraction opinions

I’ll skip Las Vegas and go to Death Valley. It’s on my to do soon bucket list.
Never been drawn to Vegas but enjoyed the shows, Van Gogh Immersive, and hikes in Red Rock Canyon during late Covid bargain travel times. Enjoyed it very much but not planning a return visit any time soon.

Also during the pandemic we watched the movie "Find Me" and decided to visit Death Valley. Stayed at the Inn at Death Valley, viewed the stars on the new moon at midnight at Furnace Creek, walked on the sand dunes, watched the sunrise at Zabriskie Point, and hiked the slot canyon featured in the movie. Loved the whole experience. Pretty sure this was in early winter so the weather was pleasant.

I did the Death Valley day trip and didn't understand the attraction.
Lots of neat (and unique?) colors and shapes of earth. Also, there's a part where you are below sea level. Think I have a pic from the gps indicating this. Head out with something in the 400+ hp range and enjoy the long straight roads where you can see for miles.

Of all the attractions I experienced in Vegas, a helicopter ride through the canyons was by far the most memorable. Flew from Vegas to several canyons, seeing Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, Mojave, red rocks formations along the way, then flew down into the canyons well below the rim for a thrilling ride, landed in the canyon for a champagne, then back to Vegas. Not cheap, but fantastic IME.

Added to bucket list. Thanks!

DW and flew in a helicopter on Kauai in 2007. IIRC, it had a turbo jet engine - anyway, it flew faster and so could go further than other helicopters. Pilots were ex-military. The agent explained it as 'The other companies have Cadillacs. We have a Ferrari.' It set down by a remote waterfall for a picnic lunch. We took over 300 digital pictures. Also not cheap, but fantastic.

That sounds wonderful. My favorite helicopter ride was out of Maui-flew over the west Maui mountains and over to Molokai. Flying around the 1000 foot drop cliffs and waterfalls over Molokai was amazing.

Regarding Death Valley-DH, a buddy, and I booked a tour of Death Valley in November one year. We didn't have to do the driving, and we got a history and geography lesson along the way from the driver. We thoroughly enjoyed it, but once was probably enough for us.

Way back in 2008, after a Homeland Security inspection we drove our big motorhome pulling jeep across the Hoover Dam. We knew that opportunity would go away soon. It was very exciting with the hairpin turns and great views. Unfortunately no way to pull over any larger parking was already taken by big RVs. Fortunately it wasn’t far to a nice rest area with views of Lake Mead.

Found the pics - so I mis-remembered, it wasn't a jet but rather had a tail rotor. Two-seater (passengers). Doors off. Belted in. They told us, 'Anything you don't want to lose, have a lanyard on it'.

The Sphere is great and is unique but it is very expensive. I actually think the concerts (Eagles, Kenny Chesney, etc...) are a better value than the PFE movie. Also, just driving/walking by it, at night, up close, is pretty cool!

As someone above said the Allegiant Stadium tour is really fun. For $50-60 it's a good value if you like sports.

Checking out off strip properties, like South Point for example, is fun. I mention South Point as they have something like 100 lanes of bowling, huge indoor horse facility, and other such things. Best trivia: they have 1,200 climate controlled horse stalls there! That's insane! Also, Michaels at the South Point for a GOURMET meal! I have no affiliation but just mention South Point as it's a good example of the massive facilities we have all over town! Enjoy!

Heehee, be prepared to rob a bank before going to Michaels at South Point. It is quite an experience. :)

I've been to Death Valley NP twice back in the early 1990's. The second time we stayed overnight at the inn there (at the time it was called the Furnace Creek Inn). Men were expected to wear jackets to the evening meal!

On my last trip, I went out to Las Vegas Motor Speedway and got to drive a Lamborghini Gallardo for 5 laps. Also included a private driving lesson beforehand. It's something I'll remember forever.
This is something I'd like to do but haven't so I can't say anything about it.

But LV has 2 other attractions that interest me - a change to drive heavy construction equipment and fly fighter jets (older). I actually put both of those above supercars but not by much!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I had valley of fire on my to do list and will now definitely go there after so many recommendations. Still no mention of the neon museum. It's a collection of vintage neon signs from old Las Vegas that gets lit up at night. I think it might be kinda cool. I may also need to rethink about going to the mob museum. Keep the suggestions coming. Thanks!

I just booked this trip based on your recommendation. Really excited!

I believe the neon museum is moving (or has moved) into a parking garage (not as strange as it sounds). Might want to check if there's any down time for them during that move.

If you are into Mustangs (or Shelbys), Shelby American is right off I-15 just south of the strip. Don't know if they have a public area/museum or not. I think there's a cars and coffee there too, but don't know the schedule.
