Last movie you saw and what you thought...

Juror #2
On Max. A legal thriller by 94-year-old Clint Eastwood, starring Nicholas Hoult. It started off well enough, became somewhat contemplative and the pacing slowed. I didn’t quite understand the meaning of the ending, so it left me a bit bothered.

Saw Red One in the theaters, Cute Christmas movie to pass the time.

Six triple eight on Netflix. Based on a true story of some women in WWII

I hate when an ending is lousy or ambiguous in some way. That's how I felt about Slingshot a few months ago. I enjoyed the entire movie until the ending and walked out disappointed.

Conclave - free with a Peacock subscription and available to rent elsewhere. DW and I both enjoyed it very much although the ending was somewhat predictable. The setting added a behind-the-scenes element to supplement memories of our visit to the Vatican last year.

Have any of you taken the opportunity to see the movie about Bob Dylan? There must be quite a few Dylan fans here.

I thought the movie was very entertaining and well done. It covers Dylan's early career and explains much about how he "burst on the scene already a legend" as Joan Baez would later say in musical prose. Baez figures prominently in the story. Timothee Chalamet (Dylan) and Monica Barbaro (Baez) are wonderful with their portrayals and amazingly sang and played all of the songs. Edward Norton is fine as Pete Seeger.

I love a period film and all the pieces are in place. The cinematography is beautiful, especially the concert scenes where there was some creative use of color.

I'm not a big Dylan fan at all but enjoyed it a lot. If you like the 60's music scene it's a must see in my opinion.

I’m planning to see it soon. Looks great.

Watched Six Triple Eight. Decently good movie, although fairly predictable. Also watched The Conclave and it was a little better IMHO.

Started trying to watch Wicked, but I don't really like musicals, so switched it off. Not enough other talking or actions to keep me interested.

We saw Moana 2 on Christmas Day. I enjoyed it. Not quite as good as the original but sequels rarely are. But great animation, a good story that builds on the original, some fun new characters along with the returning ones. I think it was a nice follow up to the first one.

Liked Six Triple Eight. Not a huge fan of Wicked.

Sonic 3. It was a fun movie. We took our 4 year old to his first movie in a theater. He made it though but was getting antsy by the end. I forgot how much I enjoy seeing a movie on a massive screen with amazing sound. I think the last movie I saw in theater was interstellar. $22 for all 3 of us...not bad.

I thought Emilia Pérez was very creative and well done. Wikipedia accurately describes it as "a 2024 Spanish-language musical black comedy, thriller and drama film". I watched it on Netflix but it's also in theaters.

Carry-On
Netflix. A thriller starring Taron Egerton and Jason Bateman, TSA agents, a nerve gas, and of course a carry-on. Moderately entertaining.
If the premise is at all possible, very scary. For entertainment, IMO average.

I prefer the vintage "Carry On" movies like Carry On up the Khyber... lol

Mind you, they're far to politically incorrect to be shown in theatres today.

Finally got around to watching Deadpool and Wolverine. It was okay, but really no need to make another. I did laugh numerous times, but it was not as good as the first one.

It was entertaining. It also had more plot holes than a block of swiss cheese.

We just watched "Wicked" this past week. I thought it was enjoyable and very well done. The young wife, a costumer for local musicals, was agog at the splendor of all the costumes. She wants to go again next week just to see them again.
It's better the second time! The first time I had to concentrate on the story. The second time I saw the costumes and sets and enjoyed the songs.

I can’t wait to see it again so I can focus on everything going on around the main characters.

Nosferatu - excellent cinematography. They keep Nosferatu in the shadows so you never see him intil the last few minutes. A great remake of the 1922 classic horror movie.

Just saw it this afternoon. Great music, and I'm really impressed with both Chalamet's and Barbaro's singing. I watched a few YouTube videos of Dylan and Baez singing at Newport after I got home since my memories of their voices are from a later time than when the movie takes place. Barbaro's voice is lovely, but quite different from Baez's (very few have her range), while Chalamet's is eerily similar to Dylan.

I think I'll grab Baez's autobiography from the library and read a bit more about that time. Somehow I find her more interesting than him.

Sisu. Just watched it. I loved it. Think John wick on a much lower budget. Completely over the top killings.

Went to the theater a few days ago to watch Heartland. We usually only go once a year around this time and it's a matinee. There was only 1 other person in with us.
Pretty good, no bad language, very little violence as you'd expect from Angel Studios. It left a lot of unanswered questions, maybe for a sequel?
Did you mean Homestead?
