I posted a while back with an inquiry about induction cooktops and I appreciate all of the responses. We have decided, alas, to stick with gas this time around. (Though I now do have a plug in induction burner, thanks to the suggestion posted here!). I simply cook too much with round bottom pans, flames, etc. I think I'm going to have one last hurrah with gas and our next home will be induction. That said...
I checked Consumer Reports and they seem to love Samsung and LG for a 36" gas cooktop. I have a generally negative view of Samsung for other kitchen appliances so this surprised me. Does anyone here have experience with a Samsung or LG gas cooktop and, if so, can you share those here?
I have an 20 year old Viking 6 burner gas cooktop in the city house I'll be leaving and it has served me well all of these years. The key has been a super duper vent hood. I also really like that the burners are to the right of the cooktop, not in front. Just personal preference. The Samsung and LGs on Consumer Reports all show knobs in front.
I guess you can't win it all...
I could replicate the Viking but was trying to keep costs down on it as I have no idea if we'll be here 5 years or 15 years. Maybe that's beside the point... But the Samsung and LG did get a higher rating...
