LG, Samsung or other Gas Cooktop?

I guess our Wolf is technically a gas "range top" because the knobs are on the front. We have one with four burners and a grill in the middle. We used the grill exactly once. If I had to buy it again, I'd get six burners. Although the covered up grill is a good place to rest spoons and such while you're cooking.
When people mention Wolf and Viking they have to realize that these are in a different universe from LG, Samsung, GE, et. al. in terms of engineering and build quality, cost and brand cachet (the brand stuff from realtors, not me). We are a Wolf and Subzero family. The 1950s simplicity with modern technology is great. Our current remodel is going to be a 6-burner Wolf range and large Sub Zero refrigerator. Once we experienced these two brands there is no turning back.

We have the 40" Subzero side by side fridge/freezer. If I were re-doing the kitchen today, I would get a 36" fridge and separate freezer (also Subzero), because for us there is simply not enough room. We also have Wolf double electric wall ovens, which have served us well for 20 years.

+1. We have a 26-year old Sub Zero fridge and it is still going. It was put in when the home was built in 1999 and we bought the home in 2021. We have had to repair the fridge about 5 times, costing us in the region of about $2K but it is well worth it. The home also came with a Asko dishwasher and we have since replaced it with a Bosch. The range and oven is Monogram, also 26-year old and still going strong. The cooker hood is Viking and also working well. I have no idea why the builder put in a mish-mash of brands.

I bought a gas Samsung range (not cooktop) a couple of years ago and had to replace the oven igniter twice already, and the glass cover for the oven light is stuck solid so I’m stuck with a burned out bulb. The cooktop part works fine, but I’ll never buy another Samsung anything.

I also just last week replaced a Samsung refrigerator. It worked for 15 years so that’s great, but a couple of times per hour it made a loud POP which would wake the dead. This was from Day 1, and Samsung said it’s normal. I finally had enough and initiated Blow That Dough and bought a GE, which we’re happy with so far.

They're all garbage made by the same components from the same suppliers. My parents fridge from 1989 still works.
I'm on my 3rd 2000's fridge.

If you want it to last, buy a better name like viking, etc, and expect to pay for it.
otherwise, expect it to die in 5 years and pay accordingly.

We had higher end GE appliances in our home. Professional or some other tag on them.

The fridge and the dishwasher were both absolute garbage. We replaced them.

The gas stove however has been very good. No issues whatsover. I have no idea if it was a buyout or if GE actually made it or simply placed their name on it. I suspect the latter.

Other than our dishwasher and gas oven we have a Kitchen Aid kitchen...trash compactor, fridge, microwave and cooktop. All were purchased and installed 15+ years ago. Zero issues wirh the cooktop. One service call on the fridge (ice maker). I gave up on CR years ago.
