There are a number of medical newsletters that one can get via the internet or the USPS. One that has been recommended to me is put out by a Dr. Gabe Mirkin. It is free. I am interested in getting opinions on the newsletter and if it has been of value to you. Do you find the information generally accurate and up to date? Does the author bombard your mailbox with e-mails trying to sell you anything?

Any other recommendations are welcome.
Thanks.

+1 on Mayo Clinic. Always found it to have pretty balanced info, inc comments on nontraditional health practices (e.g. herbs, supplements, etc.).

I find it hard to endorse any letter I've tried, but Consumer Reports On Health wasn't bad. Nutrition Action from the center for science in the public interest is ok for $7 a year (you need to miss a few issues before they offer you that rate). But both of those often have "dumb" articles, based on old thinking. For instance still insisting that lowering LDL-C is what you should be concerned with, and poo-pooing a reduced carbohydrate diet. It's crap like that that makes me question all of the content. I know they have various contributors, each with their own baggage/cognitive dissonance issues, but I'd like to think the editors could do better.
