Micro-BTD (less than $100)

Anyone have some $See's candie$ lately? We used to love to stop by when at the mall and get a little treat there. It's been quite a while since we have been to the mall. Yesterday we stopped by and each picked a few pieces. I got 4 individual pieces and the spouse got 2 cups with three small pieces in each. It was just over $12.00 for our little treat. Yikes, I can remember when that would get you a pound or so of chocolates for close to that. The person who helped us said it's about $35.00 a pound now. Glad they are still throwing in a free sample piece and yes it was all delicious.

Our favorite! We get kids/grandkids a treat for major holidays, and of course indulge in the free sample while we shop!

Went to an actual men’s clothing store and bought a shirt and pair of pants that actually fit.

While there the sales woman suggested wearing suspenders when wearing my jeans. Found my old ones were ugly so ordered some on Amazon.

I just did a game refresh. The Uno deck was getting a little worse for the wear with all the nieces, nephews and other family visiting over the holidays. Plus, we were down to our final few Yahtzee scoresheets and playing with an assortment of accumulated dice. So I bought two 5-dice sets, two more scoresheet refill packs and a new deck of "Deluxe" Uno cards that included a tin box to hold them.

Pizza has become a Micro-BTD over the last couple of years. Spouse and I have different likes so we usually get a medium or small pizza each made to our own taste. We usually get two to three meals out of them so it's not to $$$ pricey per meal. When we order at most pizza joints it's usually costing about $40.00 to $50.00 for the two of us and the pizza can be hit or miss. We have never been a fan of Dominoes pizza even though they are the closest option to us. We kept seeing their $9.99 ads on TV and decided to roll the dice one more time because we were tired of paying over $40.00 for so-so pizza. Might as well pay half that and expect so-so pizza. Well to our surprise those Dominoes specialty pizzas have been some of the tastiest pizzas we have had in a very long time. Apparently they upped their game some years ago. We have used their online ordering and the whole process is easy. They are very quick and we go pick them up since they are only 5 minutes away. It has been consistently very good pizza. Hopefully it's just not our location serving up good pizza at a reasonable price.

Pizza around our place has become ridiculous...$70 - $80 for 2 larges delivered. Luckily we're pretty good at making our own and the only time we get delivery now is when my wife's sister stays with us on work travel and expenses pizza or Chinese food in lieu of expensing a hotel.

Once every 2 months I buy a 8-slice pie from a local pizza place for about $20, eat 3 slices, and freeze the rest, splitting all the slices into 2 halves so I can easily store then later eat 5 half-slices for 2 meals. This doesn't count the few times I happen to eat pizza while out.

But my favorite pizza place just down the street closed up for good last Christmas, so I have to go elsewhere. There are other places, none to far, but none as good as the one which just closed. I bought a pie from one a few days ago and I was a bit disappointed. I'll try another place in May I haven't tried yet. Good thing I have lots of places so close by.

We did a game refresh barely 3 weeks ago, but I couldn't resist the giant sized deck of Uno when I saw it on sale. Reviews said it's even more fun than regular sized cards so, for $15 it was an easy BTD!

Still ordering from Zenni, but I decided to go with the upgraded lens darkening technology. In the past, the glasses with standard "Transitions" (that darken with UV), were $60. These were twice that, but darken and lighten more quickly, get darker, and darken when in the car (don't need UV to darken). Micro BTD!

Latest BTD was spending $2.75 on a 12 ounce bottle of craft beer at a store. Dogfish Head 90 minute IPA. Pretty good ! May do another BTD and get a six pack. Interesting side note : the $2.75 sticker on the bottle included tax, and there is no discount if buying a 6 pack. Next BTD quest is to find it on tap somewhere.

Another rare one from DFH is the 120 minute. There's a documentary featuring Sam Calagioni that you can watch about some of the first batches. DFH sold out to Sam Adams, but I think they still make some of the weirdest (interesting) beers.

Decided to better organize the carport and purchased another outdoor storage cabinet from the local Walmart.

Is it really a micro-BTD? Organization is priceless 🤔

Strangely, my better-half just suggested the same for our garage.

Kinda sorta. I already have 3 cabinets, and I can put things on top of the existing ones. But one day I looked around and decided to reorganize the cabinets and their placement... and decided that, in the change, having everything inside of cabinets that can go in cabinets would be visually better. So it is more of an "aesthetic" purchase. DW's opinion was "it looks fine to me", but sometimes I lean Felix Unger and she leans Oscar Madison 😂 .

I can relate. Organization is kind of an addiction. It's particularly pronounced in our home when it comes to camping gear, bikes, skis, SUPs and other sports equipment, automotive maintenance and tools (home tools, bike tools, and car tools are all separate). I'm sure there's more over/re-organization areas, but all of the above have their own dedicated areas in the garage with everything sorted into storage/travel bags, bins and buckets (separate car wash and bike wash buckets) for grab-and-go convenience.

I'm not Felix-level; if I can lay my hands on something without a heroic search, I'm good. But in the garage, I don't like to leave anything out in the open because it gets so dirty; everything gets a layer of dust when I use the blower to "sweep" the garage.

I haven't tried the 120 minute yet, but since I need an MBTD, I may try to find a single bottle somewhere. $8.99 minimum per 12 oz bottle per AI, so it qualifies as an MBTD, I think.

While checking out the 90 minute at my local joints, I noticed the 120 minute, which was marqueed as 'limited release'. Better snap some up before they're gone.

DFH used to make an oyster stout with squid ink! That's a rare one, I think, and probably only found in DE, near the HQ. 120 minute is supposed to be out now, and for a few more months, normal distribution, but at $9 a bottle, that's just nuts, when 90 minute is $2 a bottle.

It's white asparagus season in Germany again!
So last saturday and today I drove to a local farm and purchased white asparagus right from their fields and delicious strawberries from their greenhouse.
I have collected several recipes and till end of asparagus season on June 24 we will test them again, probably once per week.
Cost per week is app. 20 $ / week for the two of us. So worth it!

I generally buy store brand analgesics. But things like mouthwash, cold medicines etc I now BTD and buy the name brand products.

Ahhh-Spargel season...love that and miss it!

Small venue concert for 2 & parking 30' from the doors...amazingly <$100. I parked my mini van next to a Ranger Rover and laughed inside...

If you like bluesy rock, Big Head Todd and the Monsters are a great live band. We were in standing, general admission and were 10' from stage.

Nice! I met those guys in college back in the 90s. A buddy was coordinating the performance with the band and their manager said they needed somewhere nearby to hang out before the show. I casually suggested bringing them to my place and 5 minutes later Big Head Todd and the Monsters walks through my front door.

Something similar had happed a few weeks earlier with the Spin Doctors, but Big Head Todd was way more chill.
