Most common bucket lists

I visited Winslow about 4 years ago on a road trip. Some of it was fine to see, some not so much. I avoided the crowds and ate at a little restaurant by the airport.

Surprised there aren't more entries for Hawaii.

kcowan mentioned Hanauma Bay Oahu. (I prefer Captain Cook bay on the Big Island for snorkeling but there are a lot of unique places in Hawaii.) It's not just about the near perfect weather and lots of beaches.

We have "walk in" volcanoes (Volcanoes National Park)

Sunrise atop Haleakala - the moonscape surrounding the summit is not to be missed - hiking at 10,000 feet. On a clear day, you can see most of the other Islands. Truly stunning.

USS Arizona memorial and Pearl Harbor (USS Missouri, USS Bowfin, Ford Island and Aviation Museum.)

Molokini Crater snorkeling off Maui

Pali Lookout Oahu

H3 - perhaps the most expensive stretch of "Interstate" Highway in the USA and like taking a helicopter ride through the Ko'olau mountains.

8 of the Earth's 13 climate zones on Big Island. For instance, the transition from tropical rain forest to arid desert can be experienced by driving around a corner.

South Point of the USA (Big Island) has some unique trees that are bent almost 90 degrees due to the near constant winds.

Heh, heh, I could go on (and on.) I still haven't seen everything.

Yeah, some of Hawaii is "spoiled" by tourism but much of it is more like Niagara Falls tourism rather than Wisconsin Dells or Disney Land tourism. As always, YMMV.

Going back to the original list -- aggregate fashion, I have not been to:

Bora Bora
Zion NP
South Africa*
Taj Mahal*
Wildlife safari*
Disney World

I do plan on hitting Zion/Bryce soon (and want to hit Glacier, Yellowstone, Denali and in Canada, Banff). I've been to a lot of NP, just not there. Those with an asterisk are on my list. My biggest bucket list item is Antarctica -- I've toyed with hitting 100 countries.

I've been to Disneyland but even if I had not, I would not put Disney World in my top list. And please, tell me what is special about Bora Bora relative to many other tropical islands with stunning blue water and hotel runs on stilts?

I felt Macchu Picchu was worth it, but we did the four day trek to get there. I've heard people who just took the train/bus were not as enamored. I though Angkor Wat and the Great Barrier Reef were great, as were the 12 Apostles on the Great Ocean Road, Milford Sound, volcanoes near Antigua, the Napili coast (both from the ocean and the hike inland), the Jungfrau/Top of Europe, Kalambaka, the Great Wall, Giza, and more

The thing about the Four Corners is the evidence of sophisticated life prior to its disappearance in 1150 AD! Some of the foundations on top are dated back to 350 AD…between the Grand Canyon and Taos.

I don't get Disney either. I once lived in Orlando for six months and never went there.

I have only thing left to totally complete my bucket lists. I am going to make arrangements to fly a DC-3 some time in the near future.
J have already piloted an L-29 jet trainer, a P-51, a B-25, and a MiG=15 Korean War jet.

It was on my four-year-old granddaughter's bucket list and apparently on the bucket list of many other critically ill children. Make-a-Wish Foundation made sure she got there before her upcoming surgery. They really make it a wonderful experience for those kids.

Hawaii and "Europe" were both on my mom's bucket list. She and my dad finally went to Hawaii ~1985 when she was 55 and went about 5 times before she died, including twice with us. I've stayed on Maui, Kauai, Oahu and the Big Island and the latter is my favorite. Hawaii was one of my bucket list items as a child and I first went in 1987, and it is indeed paradise. Our last trip last December and January checked off a lot of bucket list items (second time seeing the manta rays, kayaking, going to the top of Mauna Kea, and staying in both Hilo and Kona areas). We skipped Volcanoes, as we stayed there previously in 2018.

Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden near Hilo is amazing. We spent a long day walking around and watching some surfers near the Garden. Near Kona I snorkeled amongst the dolphins. We were told to stay away, but the whole school decided to swim right under me.

My future bucket list: European River cruise, touring Great Britain. In February we're going to Vermont to ski/snowboard. I want to do cross country skiing there and a sleigh ride. I also want to see more of Canada than I have. I can pass on a safari and Machu Picchu.

I'm not a pilot but I'm a "Car-Guy". :) I guess I could add another one to my new list: getting to drive a Koenigsegg Jeso Absolt at LeMans... (Probably not possible) But I'd settle for driving it on the open part of the Autobahn. (Remotely possible; but unlikly I could get my hands on such a car for such a "test drive" :) and I can't afford to buy a $3.5million car.

When/if I ever get to Hawaii I'll get Koolau to show me around. Not a beach guy but other places sound nice.

Bob Seeger would be proud of you.

An easier trip is Winslow Arizona (such a fine sight to see.)
I know a guy that's been to Winslow and been on the Marrakesh Express, and one other odd song place from the 70's. That would be a better way for me to build a bucket list.

I have a hard time making a bucket list of places to visit. I guess I'm just not into hiking, etc. This would be how I see myself on those types of trips:

Well, I’ve been to Georgia, but not via taking a midnight train. I have been to Carolina in my mind. And I’ve definitely been to the Rocky Mountains although not really high at the time. When I was much younger there was one time I was with Lucy in the sky with diamonds. But I don’t recommend that for a bucket list.

I lived in Anaheim CA and never went to DisneyLand, Oh wait they wouldn't let long hairs in.
I did go to Disney World, Ms G was leading a corporate course and it was January in Michigan, so I went kicking and screaming along.

We are art museum afficionados and have seen many, many of them on our travels.

My "Great Museums" (so far)

The Metropolitan Museum of Art -- New York City
The National Gallery -- Washington DC
The British Museum -- London
The Uffizi -- Florence
La Galleria dell'Accademia -- Florence
The Vatican Museum -- Vatican City
The Louvre -- Paris
The Tokyo National Museum -- Tokyo

My bucket list "Great Museums" remaining

The Prado -- Madrid
The Rijksmuseum -- Amsterdam
The Hermitage -- St. Petersburg (although I doubt I will ever go to Russia)

There are innumerable smaller museums in the US and around the world that are well worth seeing. Tell me where you will be traveling and I can probably recommend some hidden gens.
You should add the Art Institute in Chicago to your list.. I especially love the Impressionists there. Many greats by Monet (the haystack series, painted in different light shown side by side),

This page covers many of my favorites.

Well, I could do that too,

If my wife wasn't standing in the way! ;-)
I'm pretty sure I couldn't attract a 24 yo beauty like that, even with my wife's permission!

If I spent the kid's inheritance on her, that might be enough for a gold digger, but I think they need that outward status thing too. Not gonna happen for me.

Yes, I can easily give grace to others who make mistakes like to, too and two or affect vs effect or misspell a word. But I hate it in myself. What's up with that??

Returning you now...
