my search might have finally ended today. i am 23, engaged, one kid, 3 homes, sole $$ earner in the family, and havent had health insurance for 5 years. (yeah yeah, i know i need some life insurance as well, and i'll be asking about it soon enough)
My fiance and mom and dad and stepdad and grandparents finally convinced me to get some coverage
here's what i found to be the best deal.... kaiser pemanente hmo, 0% coinsurance, $0 deductible, $25 office visits/brand name scripts/physicals $15 generic scripts, $250 copay for outpatient surgery, $500 for hospitalization, $100 copay on ER visits, $0 if admitted, no charge for any labwork/bloodwork etc. max out of pocket is 1800/yr. 45 dollar vision exam, $100 creditt toward glasses every 2 yrs, and 30% across the board for dental. NO chiroprctic NO mental
this is going to cost me 125/month. i think this is very fair considering the 'bonus' vision and dental coverage
ive heard/read lots of negatives about hmo's, but its all i can afford that seems worth while
I've been really fatigued lately (not just from hard work), need a dental exam, need new glasses, and have lump on my head everyone's been telling me to get checked out for the last year or two.
QUESTION: say i am approved for the coverage which i applied for online. then i go get a physical, and the doc sees the lump and calls for tests. if they determine it was "pre-existing" will they not cover me for it?
ive never had my own health insurance so be gentle
