Maybe someone out there knows some secret phone number I can call
Venting: Here goes:
My mom died 2 years ago and two months ago I finally decided to put the Xfinity account in my name as my disabled brother is still using the service. Should be easy, right?
So I go to the local Xfinity store, they set me up with a new account, new cable boxes and a new modem; at the same time, they talk me into getting a land line connection through the modem. Good idea as my brother uses MajicJack and I don't like it.
I get back to my brother's, hook it all up and....."no signal" on the TV. After an hour on the phone, the lady says: "well, if you want the land line, you'll have to wait three or four days before you can also get TV." I say, forget the landline. She says, "In that case you have to sign up for a cell phone". I say "I don't want a phone or need one" In the end I agree to get a cell phone just in order to get TV and internet that day because that was the only way. The TV and internet came on within minutes.
Meanwhile, I get an email a few weeks ago saying that my phone as been activated BUT its for a different phone number! However online my billing shows an invoice for a landline!
Next scene: after two months the phone never arrives. I don't worry about it. Today I got a bill for $95 for the cell phone...Zero data time.
I go back to the store. The people there can't help me because they are 'just sales, not billing'. So they set me up for a video conference with a lady. She says she can't help me because this is about cell phones not the actual account. She sends me to another lady. She says that if I didn't order the phone, that is 'fraud' and the fraud department would contact me but if I did agree to the phone, she can't take it off the account unless I pay $399 for the phone (that I never got). I told her to go the fraud route but I suspect the easiest way out of this is to just buy the phone that I never got and cancel the phone account.
I just can't believe that a so-called tech-company can be so screwed up! Seriously I have never seen anything quite like this. It had to be deliberately designed this way. Arghhhhhh!!
