National Parks Less Traveled

In my backpacking trips, I always used to simply store my food in a sack that I would hang from a high branch. These day, I often use a bear canister for my food. Adds a little weight, but seems worth it in some parks.

Amazingly, there is a bear in the Adirondacks who has learned to open the allegedly bear-proof canisters. Let's hope she doesn't pass on her skill to too many relatives!
