NCAA Football 2024

YES... I find it funny that the middle 4 are the last to play for the championship...

But in reality Texas and Ohio State would have been in the playoffs if there were only 4... some might say Georgia also... not sure who I would pick for the 4th spot....
Ohio St was seeded behind Penn St, ND and Texas, so they would not have been in a 4 team playoff. Moot point as the 4 team playoff is gone and very doubtful ever to return.

Ohio State looks like the team to beat right now. Texas will give them a tough time though. Notre Dame looked very good last night. They whipped my Dawgs pretty good. They are very well coached and fundamentally sound. They will definitely be a tough out.

SOOO, Alabama laid an egg!!!

What excuse is there from the people who thought Alabama should have been in the playoffs? Probably would have been blown out by any of the 4 who won...
Yeah, I got a good laugh out of the Alabama loss and all of the whining that went on when they weren't picked for the 12 team playoffs. haha!

Yea... probably true...

I picked them to win the whole thing... losing to Michigan really knocked them out...

Yes, ND looked good and they should have as several key starters were on other college teams last season. The portal will kill NCAA football over time.

If Texas falters against OSU, which is very possible, I think Sark will bring in Arch Manning which could be a possible scenario like the Tua Tagovailoa/Jalen Hurts replacement in the 2018 National Championship game. Both good teams with good coaches and it should be a great game.

I think Sark is maybe the best play caller in the nation.

I give OSU the edge in defense and defense wins championships.

Hook'em!

Arch has played in quite a few games so would not be a shock. And They have already packed Ewers' bags, he will be somewhere else next yr.

As far as the matchup, both teams have good defenses. OSU has the better offense as I see it..

As long as there is a mayonnaise bath for the winning coach in a bowl game, the transfer portal is not the worst thing in college football.

Two good semifinal games! Notre Dame-Penn State was relatively quiet until that 4th quarter, then ND wins on an almost-last-second field goal after an interception. Ohio State with a goal line stand that ends in a forced fumble and defensive score to seal the game. Both games kept you watching to the end.

I am still getting used to college football going "deep" into January, but I am looking forward to the National Championship game!

In my heart I knew it but was hesitant to say anything...

THE TED CRUZ CURSE IS REAL!!

Horns Up!

Texas had a very good season. But that game was heartbreaking. Ohio State sure seems to have found lightning in a bottle during these playoffs l

I will not watch the game, but I hope Notre Dame wins. The SEC and Big Ten have played a large role in ruining college football.

Yes enjoyed both games. ND fortunate to win after Penn St dropped a TD pass and ND got a long TD when the corner slipped and fell.

But win they did.

I thought Texas was fortunate to hang close as long as they did.

But that was also good.

I like Ohio St in the natty.

They have others taking their classes online for them. There are exceptions of course.
That has been the case for (at least) 40 years (not online, that I am sure makes it less noticeable). I had a couple of fairly famous football players in a class that I was in at school. They rarely came to class, usually just to take a test which we all "believed" they were "prepped" for in advance.

When I was at USNA, all the football players attended class and took all the tests in person. They did get some consideration, like early registration so that they could get the class schedule best suited to the demands of practices and travel to away games. Excused absences for long road trips, etc. But other than that, they were treated just like the rest of us and had the same service obligation upon graduation. While you could leave in your first two years, after that you were stuck with the Navy or Marine Corps for the next seven years. And it was impossible to "transfer in". I believe this is still the case. No redshirting. No "transfer portal". No NIL money. Hard to believe they do as well as they did this year.

I had to look it up, But did he attend the game? Either way, I'm fine with blaming him.

ETA: I can see where Cruz had a bet on the game with J.D. Vance... perhaps the Cruz curse operates whether he attends the game or not.
