NFL 2024

I watched the crazy Bears vs Packers game of week 18 where both teams had chances to salt the game away but instead let the other team back in. On the pass completion from Bears QB Williams to Moore, where the Bears then had a chance to spike the ball and kick the winning FG. had the Packers defender just tackled Moore wouldn't the clock pretty much run out? All the defender did was fling Moore to the ground to allow him to get up real quick. I know a defender can't pile on and hold down for delay of game, but nothing against a regular tackle.

I understand why KC didn't play Mahomes yesterday (and it wasn't because of some high ankle sprain)... They had nothing to gain. But, what if they hadn't already lost one game earlier in the season.... Would they have played him and tried for a perfect season?
It might just be me but I would say yes...

It is the Holy Grail in football... and I would think that everybody on the team would want to get it if they could... they still talk about the Miami team like 50 years later>>> had to look it up... 53 years.. who would not want that to happen to them..

BTW, if they did go perfect I bet the talk 50 years from now would be that season, not the super bowls or other stats... that just drifts away when people get old and forget..

Everybody got their playoff picks made? I’m sticking with Detroit v KC in the finale with at least one upset in the wild card round. Never thought I’d be rooting for Denver and Washington but it’d be pretty funny if they both won a game or two.

Not sure I agree with this statement. The Chiefs started focusing on the three-peat as soon as they won last year. They did just enough to position themselves where they wanted to be going into the playoffs. I think that’s part of the reason they played the way they did against the Broncos. Don’t give other teams game film worth anything and prevent injuries even to the backups.

Do something that has never been done before or tie/edge out the Dolphins with a perfect regular season? A moot point now but I think the three-peat would be the bigger deal.

I think an undefeated season would be a bigger deal than winning 3 SB's in a row. One thing for sure, unless undefeated seasons became common place in the future, I know I'd remember it a lot longer.

I know I don't remember any repeater pro football SB or baseball WS winners.

I am with Car Guy... I think the undefeated season (which BTW would have to include the SB) would be a much bigger deal than a 3 peat...

There are a lot of double winners... and I looked... two team won 3 of 4... one won 4 of 6... and one has I think 6 or 7 total wins.. do you know any of these? I knew two of them but the undefeated Miami is still higher in my brain...

BTW, Miami was a team that had a repeat... went 12-2 after the perfect season.. (I had no idea... just going down the rabbit hole)..

You’re right Car-Guy. I was looking at it wrong. Yes, I think the perfect season with an asterisk of three in a row definitely outranks three in a row by itself.

Step one is getting past the Texans. I’d bet the under on the point spread and be happy to lose it.

Me too. I'll be betting on the Texans and taking the points. Hope they win but expect them to lose, but hopefully by less than the spread.

OK, I was at the sports book last night and made my bets for this weekends games. I took the Texans and 8.5. So I fully expect them to lose against KC and I'm okay with that, as long as KC takes pity on them and doesn't win by more than 8. Nothing crazy, just $250 to make it interesting to watch. Also took a 4 game parlay for $20 that pays out $308 if I win all four.

Good luck Car Guy, hope you win your parlay. I’m pulling for Washington to pull off a surprise but don’t expect it to happen.

Thanks, as I said, I'm okay if KC wins, just not more than 8. It really doesn't matter a lot to me anyway since I had a really good night at the tables so I'm using house money. :)

The Texans played a much better game than I expected. A couple of bad calls and a few missed opportunities. But in the end, these two guys cost me money.

Lost my bet by 1/2 point.

Yes, thanks to the refs for helping my Chiefs advance. I'm not sure we could have done it without your help. :D

Kansas City - passing 162 yards, rushing 50 yards, 4 penalties for 29 yards
Houston - passing 187 yards, rushing 149 years, 8 penalties for 82 yards

Missed extra point and a filed goal...
Trust me, I know that. Unbelievable that just that one missed extra point made the difference in winning the bet or not... Pretty amazing though that the odds makers can get it that close.

What a disappointment. As a Lions fan disappointment is not unknown but wow, what a melt down. Even more amazing is that three teams from the NFC north get into the playoffs, with two teams having the best records in the division, and none of those three teams made it past their first game.

I really thought the Lions would win, easily. OTOH, I'm glad they lost since it keeps my 4 game parlay bet alive. I'm half way there.
