NFL 2024

Jackson is the QB people thought he was coming out of college: great athlete, great runner, iffy passer. Not a good quality for a QB to have.

I suspect Ravens fans want more than "good enough to hold onto the job" :)

I’m just hoping last year’s debacle during the late part of the season doesn’t happen again with the Eagles.

Lamar Jackson: 2 time NFL MVP. Career completion percentage almost in the top 20 ranking among career QBs. Through running and passing yesterday accounted for almost 400 yards of Baltimore's offense. I'm not sure what people are watching to call him "iffy" and "just good enough" :). I am not a Raven fans (in fact I enjoy rooting against the team as I have a lot of friends who are :)), but listening to Baltimore sports talk and fans he certainly is the QB they want. And that a lot of other teams would want.

The Ravens have I believe at least 2 new members of their offensive line, one a rookie, and that was their big problem for most of the game, they could not keep Chris Jones out of their backfield. Still, he had no interceptions and kept them in the game. Had that toe been an inch behind, it could have been for a win.

Packers/Eagles streaming on Peacock right now from Brazil.

2 time league MVP and 3 time Pro bowler. I think he is doing quite well.

After 8 minutes of the Eagles game, I predict a last place finish. I hope I’m wrong.

Pretty sure you're wrong but Hurts is having a off day so far. As a Packer fan I am not complaining. :)

Lots of sloppy play by both teams. Seems like extended pre-season.

Two games in a row that come down to the last play. Fun to watch. Back and forth all night, a little early season rust from both teams, but fun to watch.

"Pro bowler" means little if anything as it's just a popularity contest. MVP is nice but it's also subjective.

As I said before, his best strength really is in his running ability, not his passing ability, and that doesn't bode well for a QB whose most important ability is to be a consistently accurate passer. Last night he was dreadfully inconsistent on the whole. He even whiffed on short screen passes. I know it's just one game, but this isn't anything new from him. Consistency is what wins SBs. Small wonder he hasn't as yet.

As the Eagles game progressed, you could see the strengths of each team come and go. What stands out for me was the number of drops and errant throws of the Pack. And just when I'd feel confident with a bit of Eagles momentum, pffft.

The problem with a game in Brazil just seems to be such a mountain to climb physically. What a challenge to all the bodies.

Both QB's have attained success, but have many miles to go. Without Kelce it's obvious it will take time for the center position to stabilize.

Barkley is a god-send. Thank you NY.

According to NFL "insider" Adam Schefter: "Packers QB Jordan Love is believed to have injured his MCL, pending further testing. It is not expected to be a season-ending injury, but he is expected to miss some time."

NFL says it'll be 3-6 weeks.

Went to visit a friend's son (Navy pilot) and part of his squadron and jets performing the flyover of Soldier Field for the Bears game tomorrow. Interesting how this works. Goal is to fly over the stadium at the precise end of the National Anthem.

He and a 2nd jet will be flying out over Lake Michigan when they get a radio call from one of their team in the stands at the game. The call is made at a point in the National Anthem giving the pilots notification to start their approach to Soldier Field. They made one practice run Friday and went over the field within 2 seconds of the end of the anthem. They want to do another test run to get the flyover timing closer to anthem end.

During their approach, they would rather be ahead of schedule so that they can slow down to time it just right. They don't want to be behind schedule. They would get in trouble for speeding.

It's all my fault. I am going to next weeks game, just the second time ever. I have worse luck than anyone I have ever known so it makes sense he would be injured and unable to play when I go there.

Malik Willis is now the starter. g/l with that.

Fortunately (I think?) I have little going on tomorrow, so I'll get to feast on NFL games. Though tbh more often than not, after awhile I usually start puttering around the house and just check scores off and on

Week 1 so far: flipping between CIN/NE and ATL/PIT. Bengals look weak. Head-scratching play-calling but credit to NE D as well. Falcons, Cousins threw a ridiculous INT and except for a late TD, not utilizing Pitts or London at all. Robinson looks great but can't do it all.

Other games, tbh not surprised at all the Bills are losing to the Cards, they will be lucky to even make the playoffs IMO. I am surprised Jags are beating the Fins. And while I didn't expect much, I did expect at least some improvement from the Panthers, but they are getting routed by an underwhelming Saints team.

Bill stormed back but I stand by my assertion. Bucs impressive in opener....

At least my Texans squeaked out a win. Lots of sloppy play with both teams slipping on Indy's new turf and both making tons of silly mistakes. But we're always glad if we get out of there with the W.

Only watched a few games so far, what do others think about the new kickoff rules?
Seems like a dud to me, I haven't seen any exciting plays from it so far.

New KO rule is one of the dumbest rules ever. No idea what they were smoking when they came up w/that. You're going to see a ton of kicks out of the back of the end zone.

I liked the Texan game... Thought it was pretty good for thier first game of the season. Cowboys brought their A game and was a real asskic**n. New KO rule is a joke, IMO. What's next, "flag football"?

tbh beating the Browns (w/o their starting RB no less) isn't saying much; Watson blows. Saints aren't all that either but could and should be a better test.
