Justin Fields signed with Jets to 2 year contract.

Justin Fields was passed over by the New York Jets four years ago in the NFL draft. Now he’s expected to be their No. 1 quarterback.

Fields and the Jets agreed Monday to a two-year contract worth $40 million, a person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press.

Fields likely steps in ahead of veteran backup Tyrod Taylor as New York’s starter in place of Aaron Rodgers after the Jets announced last month they are moving forward without the four-time NFL MVP after two seasons. Rodgers, who hasn’t announced whether he’ll play a 21st NFL season, is expected to be released.

The deal for Fields includes $30 million guaranteed, according to the person who spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the agreement wasn’t announced by the team. NFL Network first reported the deal between Fields and the Jets.

I can't even relate to salary numbers like that. That's not a comment on any person or team. Just doesn't compute in my pea sized brain. YMMV

It's only $30 million guaranteed so it's no big deal @ $15 mil/year. That's not even $1.0 mil/game.

More numbers to digest :greetings10::

The Bills have rewarded NFL MVP Josh Allen with a record-setting six-year, $330 million contract through the 2030 season that includes $250 million guaranteed, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Sunday.

It's the largest guaranteed total given to an NFL player, surpassing the previous mark of Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson, who received $230 million guaranteed.

Yeah, well, when you think of it that way...

I'm beginning to wonder if maybe the USPS at $10Bil/year (tax payer money) isn't such a bad deal after all. Think of it as only 9 cents per package or letter.

The tush push play is safe at least for now.

EAGAN, Minn. (AP) — A proposed ban on the tush push failed on Wednesday at the NFL owners’ meetings, according to a person with knowledge of the decision.

The proposed prohibition of the polarizing short-yardage play failed on a 22-10 vote, which will allow quarterbacks to continue to be aided by teammates when plunging into the line.

USPS is not funded by tax payers. They did receive some money thru Congress during Covid but generally speaking they do not operate at the expenses of tax payers.

My understanding is that they are subsidized by the US gummint. $10 Billion last time IIRC. Otherwise, you are correct, they are "self supporting" by those who use the service. Of course, the US also makes it illegal to compete with USPS for 1st class mail, so there's that.

USPS + NFL - perfect together!

Neither are what they were 20-30 years ago.... By a long shot.

Growing up, aiding the runner, was a penalty. Now it is a premier play.
