The last two were a challenge for us too. I say "us" because it's a collaborative breakfast time activity. Usually we get it, but not yesterday.

Today, two heads were better than one...she knew that weird kind of paint, and I (believe it or not) got the rap artists. And I saw the ghost connection.

We do the whole puzzle using Connections Helper, which is an app I wrote to let you solve the puzzle without making any guesses on the NYT site. It doesn't check if you're right, just lets you sort the cells. There's another tool that lets you drag each tile to group them. We don't use that one, but I can see how people might like it.
