NY Times New Puzzle - Connections

When you solve the first 3, if you don't immediately get the connection for the last group, how much time do you spend trying to figure it out before submitting? I'll tell myself I'm going to wait until I figure it out but usually run out of patience before that.

I usually run out of patience also.
