Online internet questions

I'm not sure what you are expecting from a "a site that would "interrogate" me on what I wanted and would then spit out template or theme suggestions"...

But I just played with Google Sites, and created a dummy site in a minute. You put an image where you want, you put text where you want, you add pages as you want. It's all simple WYSIWYG. I'm not sure what more you would get from something asking you for what you want?

Here, my test site is very impressive (j/k):

edit/add: If you go to the 'Classic' sites option, they have a bunch of canned layouts. I only played with it for a minute, looks like you need to choose it to see how it looks, but that's easy.

You know, this just might work to begin with! I had thought about Blogger, but not Sites. Ease of use would definitely promote more use on my part. Hmmm .... will let you know how it turns out.

I find it hard to believe that some of these people with simple blogs are putting that much effort into it.

+1

I built my first website over a quarter century ago from scratch, in about 2-3 hours which included learning how to code in HTML for the first time. I learned how to do that by looking at the source code for several web pages that I liked, to see how they did various things. My website had half a dozen linked pages, graphics, lists, music (on an on/off button in case it was annoying), nice formatting, and overall I thought it looked just great and exactly as I had envisioned it.

There are challenging tasks one can take on in life, but you can take "building a web page" off that list. It's not hard, folks! Not unless you choose to make it hard.
