Post aquablation feedback, please!

Thanks. I was in the ER recently for a herniated disk and they found I was retaining urine, like about 500cc's worth. So in went a Foley catheter, painfully. It stayed in for about 2 1/2 weeks until I had a urodynamics test a few days ago. Nice to have it out, but my urologist has hinted at self-catheterization which scares me.

I am researching the various BPH procedures now and will be meeting with my urologist later today.

I think I always had about 300cc before my daily cath. Yeah I kept track of it when possible. Went to my regular 6 month urologist visit 11/10, 15cc on a bladder scan, 2.64 PSA doc thinks I am golden.

How was it for you doing the self-cath? My doc has hinted at that for a next step, but I can't bear the thought, given the pain I had with the Foley catheter.

This is the only self cath I have used, and I didn't find it painful at all. It has to be sized correctly, my urologist ordered theses for me. Coloplast SpeediCath Flex Pro Catheter | 180 Medical Really go to the website and look at the reviews.
Thanks for the info - this takes the fear away a little.

Possibly I should start my own thread for fear of hijacking tis one, but many of the reviewers appear to be doing self-cath for quite a long time. This makes me wonder what condition they may have. Wouldn't a prostate surgery procedure like HoLEP or aquablation et al. eliminate the need for self-catheterization?
