I just never liked the sentiment of the lyrics. I always have to ignore them. YMMV

And she was a high school teacher.RIP Roberta Flack, who died about a month ago. Classically trained vocalist and pianist who spanned the R&B, Jazz, Folk, and Pop genres. A staple of my college DJ days, especially when one wanted to slow the tempo down and chill (or back then, the "quiet storm" format). Just a few of her well-known songs:

I don't recall the name of the movie but I recall the "video" from a movie ca '58 or '59. So I would have been about 11.This got a bit of a boost when the depilatory cream Nair picked it up for a commercial. The guy on the piano went on to join a band called The Four Seasons.
A pretty nerdy crew in the peanut gallery. Just MHO.
I haven't heard the Gentrys since the mid 1960's!
