Prom stories

The high - voted prom king.
The low - my prom queen date hooked up with my best friend later that evening.
The stupid - I sat all glum on the sofa all night totally ignoring my best friend's date who was a smoking hot Greek girl named Joy who was curled up next to me and doing her very best to console me.

I was an idiot when I was young with a pea sized brain.

Happy ending. Joy ended up visiting me at college on a few occasions. It was 'memorable'. Last I heard of her she became a stewardess on a major airline. Could not have been more fitting.

I didn't go to mine. I was dating a guy who was away at college (5 hour drive from me and he didn't own a car), penniless and had gone to another HS so he wouldn't have known anyone there. I just figured it was too much to ask (and he would have said no). I had the hots for the Brazilian exchange student and I should have asked him. He went with one of our classmates- as with many of them, they paired off with someone they liked but hadn't been dating steadily just so they could go.

The next year, of course, was when they changed it to a "dinner prom" where you could attend without a date. I wish I'd had that option.

No proms, home comings or my graduation for that matter... But hit the town square-dance about every week....

No prom(s) for me. I wasn't popular and my self-esteem has always been pretty bad, so that made it hard to find a date.

Instead I went fishing on my prom night. My older brother must've felt sorry for me, because I remember him finding me sitting alone on a bridge in the country, fishing a creek in the middle of the night. He didn't even get out of his car...just stopped and asked if I was okay, and then drove away. Ugh...I still make myself cringe all these years later.

I asked someone to my senior prom as a way to express my romantic interest (i.e. "Will you be my date to the prom?"). She enthusiastically said yes and looked gorgeous when I picked her up. On our way to pick up my other friend and his date, my date leaned over and said, "I hope it's okay that we're going as friends." She spent most of the prom dancing with some other dude and I dropped her off at home before 9pm on our way to the shore for an all night house party with my friends.
