Dr Huo hopes to see her test available to physicians in 2-3 years. That would be good news.

Pilot studies found Huo’s technique is significantly more exact. The test determines with 90 to 95 percent confidence that the result is not false-positive. When it comes to false-negatives, there is 50 percent confidence – not ideal, but still significantly higher than the PSA’s 20 percent.

It's a poorly written/researched article or a con job. First it says it detects cancer not prostate cancer. Then goes on to imply this method detects only prostate cancer but could be used for other cancers. So, just what is it is does and why would it not lead to unnecessary biopsies?

For their information the PSA test does not detect cancer. It always has a 100% false detection rate. It only measures PSA not cancer. If anyone gets a needless biopsy from it they were conned into it. And PSA's never ever lead to unnecessary treatments as the article says. You don't treat PSA results. If you know how to use the PSA test this new test doesn't really add much because they won't now enough to diagnose or treat until they ..... wait for it.... do a biopsy. More muddy waters here.

Scepticism is a healthy part of the process.
Dr. Huo and her colleagues will have to prove their claim.......eventually, or not. The PSA test is hardly a raging success.

To say the least. Even the doctor who invented it stopped recommending it as a screening procedure several years ago
