rant: no suitable (low er) global all in one fund

Life strategy Mod Gwth, VSMGX, er~.15 --- no International component, no admiral
Global Wellington admiral, VGWAX, er=.32 --- high er
STAR fund, VGSTX, er=.32 --- high er, no admiral
Total World Index admiral, VTWAX, er=.10 --- no bond component
Target Retirement 2030, er=.08 --- worry about allocation change

I don't get it... what's the problem?

Besides 32 bps isn't really a "high" ER for a managed fund... it's probably below average.

You need to recognize that the expense ratios of index funds are lower than managed funds.

So buy VGWAX and don't fret about the additional 17 bps.

thanks pb4uski, I realized after posting that I was probably agonizing about not much. And yes VGWAX is the best of them.

I will screen Fidelity also. (FFNOX, only 0.08, but index based).

Life strategy does have an international component.

What exactly are you concerned about the target date allocation? You could always use a blend of two targets like 2030 and 2035.

Yes Thanks, I missed that.

The target date funds will change their blend over time. I am looking for a for ever allocation, predicting that one day no-one, including me, may have enough marbles to do the job correctly : )
