RDQOTD: Ever received ice cream that was shipped to your house?

Final report: I ordered 5 pints Sunday before last, shipped from Nashville TN late Monday, arrived NC last Wed 7pm. Arrived in styrofoam with dry ice inside lid. First pint I pulled out was still rock hard, put it in kitchen freezer. Put the other 4 pints in large freezer, noticed one pint felt a little soft, but by no means melted. First pint of Goat Cheese with Red Cherries looks and tastes as good as a scoop shop. So I guess I’d order from them again Fall/Winter/Spring - but not Summer.

wow--goat cheese and red cherries? sounds interesting and delicious!

Ooooh Jeni's ice cream! I love their flavors. They used to have a Cognac and Gingerbread holiday pint that was just amazing.

That sounds like our typical delivery when we ordered perishable food online. Glad to hear it worked out.

The goat cheese ice cream sounds amazing.

+1 for Graeter's. Cincy was the place that I left as quickly as I could at age 18. A couple of years ago I received a shipment of Graeter's on dry ice for Christmas. It was frozen. I think shipping it in December is definitely better than July.

Ah, I went to college in Cincinnati and haven't seen that name in ages! Glad they're still in business. Sorry I don't have anything to contribute to the original question but I'd be wary, too.
Ha, I see they have a flavor called Bearcat! Also a store in my old hood in Indy. I might place a mail order too. I’ll report back if I do.
Oh they have a Buckeye flavor also.

Goat Cheese and (dark) Red Cherries is great. Looking forward to Boozy Eggnog and Blackout Chocolate Cake next. Could be a while before we get Gooey Butter Cake again…

We don’t eat ice cream often, but when we do it’s Jeni’s.

My experience with both frozen and fresh has always been overnight shipping, not two nights like yours. Hadn't thought about the seasonal decision, but I don't think I've ever had a summer shipment.

Glad it worked out!

For years I gave my dad a subscription for high-end ice cream sent monthly from creameries all across the country. 2 pints arrived like clockwork every month in a variety of flavors. Occasionally I got an email that shipping was delayed due to the possibility of weather or something else might cause a hiccup.

He had to be on the lookout for the package. They only guarantee it will arrive frozen - not stay frozen on your porch.

Once, he was traveling and put a small freezer on his porch with a note to the fedex guy to "drop the box in the freezer please" Fedex obliged and when he got home he found his icecream and several other packages in that freezer. :)
