Does anyone else use their red beet leaf for salads? The leaf has so many more benefits health wise than lettuce. I compare it to Swiss char. I just love coming home picking a tomato, beet leaf, dill, sweet pepper and onion for a nice lunch salad.

If the bugs have not ravaged them, beet leaves are quite tasty in a salad. Chard is actually a variety of beet.

Beets and Swiss Chard are the same species. Beets have been bred for their roots, and chard for their leaves.

Don't have much of a garden (herbs and a few tomatoes), so no beets - but beet leaves are pretty common in the grocery store salad mixes. I like 'em, and they seem to keep better than most lettuce as well.

Never had Swiss chard or beet greens in a salad, but love them cooked. Have not had either for a while, I guess I need to hit a farmer's market soon.

Yes, they keep very well. I didn't know you could buy beet tops i store for salads! Very interesting.

Have tried it a few times, not a fan of beet leaves or Swiss Chard. Love beets fresh out of our garden, oven roasted, then some feta crumbles added.

My mum loved both beet and chard. We prefer more bitter greens such as dandelion and broccoli rabe. Collard greens are a great side with bbq.

We have fresh raw beets in our salad every day. The organic red beets always have the tops/leaves on the bunch. Ms G usually throws the leaves in soups or in a pan with veggies.

We have them often, but cooked.

Back in the day, we "wilted" dandelion greens. Bacon fat (from the coffee can on the stove) in a pan with a little water and vinegar IIRC. Heat and serve as "the salad" with "pork side meat" and potatoes and left-overs if we were flush (A country boy can survive.)
