Today I celebrate my 9 year anniversary of retirement. I retired at 52 yo and am now 61. I can't believe how well this has worked out !!

My max spending rate is targeted at 3.25% of my remaining portfolio. Most of that has come from dividends. The remainder has come from portfolio sales and helps my rebalancing.

I would never have had the courage without this site, so I thank all of those who provided insight and knowledge to get me here.

I am no longer active here because I am too busy living the "go go" years of retirement.

God is good and these have been the happiest years of my life.

Thanks for your post. We love successful FIRE stories. We miss your posts but understand your decision regarding the way you spend your time. Keep the faith!

Fantastic! Would be good to hear about how you are living it up in retirement, but we'll take the consolation prize of knowing that it's so much fun that you don't have time to do that. :)

Nice to hear from you again, glad your retirement plan is working.
Feel free to remain on the forum and update our threads on travel, BTD, and what you do all day!

Glad to hear that you are enjoying your retirement.

As an aside, it is those who are active and "give back" who make this forum possible.

Congratulations, neighbor. ER'd at 51 with lots of emotional help from this forum. Never imagined my life in my chosen retirement would be this satisfying!

I'm glad for you! Your success story of 9 years is an inspiration for all of us.

This sounds great. I’m trying to hold off until my kids graduate high school but work has been pretty terrible lately and my calculations tell me I’m good to go. Not sure how much longer I can hold on.

I still had 2 in HS when I FIRE'd. As long as you have the income and/or retirement stash, the status of the kids isn't that critical in most cases though YMMV.

Congratulations on planning your retirement and living your plan. I've just passed my 8-yr anniversary and am very happy with the way life is going also.

Thanks Koolau, this is good to hear for my situation. Still working at the Pentagon, and today my spreadsheet says I could have a WR of 2.089% if I quit today. 2 kids in college this Fall, 1 more in HS. Job isn't fun, but not really bad either. Mostly want to just have time to do other things, but summer in DC is too hot for me, so I think the earliest I'll be done is this Fall. Maybe....

The main thing I want to do in retirement is travel. Not sure what I would do if I retired and was sitting around waiting for them to graduate. Still, as my portfolio goes up, my tolerance for bullshit at work goes down so giving notice this fall holds some allure.

Was inspired to leave a note after reading original poster, even tho I contribute about as frequently as finding hen’s teeth.
Thanks to the wisdom, support and bottomless intelligence here I too am celebrating my 9th year of post FIRE retirement.
Retired (for a final time) at 55; am now 64.
It’s been a wonderful life and I count my stars everyday that I’ve had the health and luck to have enjoyed every single day of it.
All of it NEVER would have happened early without this forum and the people who give lackeys like me the inspiration to dream and make the goals happen that support living a life with purpose and at one’s own pace.
No looking back, no regrets, plans both financial and personal have all come true.
So much gratitude.
