Retirement village in Arizona

I hate HOA's they should be criminal I dont spend lots of money on property for someone to tell me what color my house should be lol
I like my HOA. I don't spend lots of money on property to have to deal with someone in the neighborhood parking their broken down cars or boats on the lawn they never mow. It's nice to have an HOA that keeps up the common areas so the weeds don't take over. I don't mind having to paint my house with the HOA approved color pallet so that I don't have to look at some odd color selections. Glad we all have options.

After our son started college in Arizona, we visited frequently from Illinois. We moved to Sun City West in 2020 and love it. There are both HOA and non-HOA areas. We love the facilities and over 100 clubs, four rec centers, eight golf courses, etc. Yes, summers are hot. You can drive an hour or two and be a lot cooler. It is unincorporated so no local government, rec centers are run by an elected board of residents. I’ve been to all the ten places in the article, none have the activity opportunities like SCW.

Yes, glad we all have options. My thought is though if you live in a good city, town, Parrish and they enforce the broken-down crap or long grass issue. Then a HOA is not needed but I guess if you have a community pool that always is shut down I guess thats cool to when its 100+ degrees outside

Is there anything actually in a reservoir that can be pumped, or is it simply a promise to pay sometime in the future?

I've been in Tucson during the Monsoon Season. Those washes are often filled to overflow. I hope some of that water can be stored.
I do not know the exact particulars, especially the legal aspects (want an amazing read? Cadillac Desert by Reisner)

The excess water (Colorado River allotment) is pumped into the aquifer for storage. I am not aware of any widespread attempt to to collect wash run-off other than some ranchers and farmers.
