Thank you all for your information, shared experiences, and encouragement to those of us who are in the final months prior to early retirement! I gave notice to my supervisor last week. The company is beginning the process of transitioning my roles to other employees. My supervisor requested I stay on for 5 months to ensure a smooth transition. I was nervous about ending my employment income and relying upon my investments and army reserve pension. Reading posts of successful early retirees gives me more confidence that I can also retire early! FireCalc and Projection Lab give me 100% chance of success so theoretically I should be fine financially. But I still feel fear that we will have another economic crash and I will not have the safety of a steady W-2 job.

I appreciate your posts about the importance of being as active as one can before our bodies decline in our 70s. I am in good shape now but I am increasingly aware that my physical condition will decline. I am going to the fitness center to keep my muscle strength.

My wife has has been a stay at home wife for the past 30 years and we are looking forward to traveling and being productive together. My last child leaves the house in May 2026 so this will be two big adjustments (early retirement and empty-nesters). I live in Utah so we look forward to enjoying the mountains during the work-week.

I wish you all the best in your retirement activities and health! I hope to join you in 5 months!

Glad to have you on board. Do you have some idea what you will do with your freedom?

It sounds like you will be living a great retirement, enjoy your wife and traveling as life must be lived each day with purpose, even if the purpose is relaxing.

Congrats and enjoy your retirement! Hopefully your desire to be productive will pass.😀

So wonderful to hear. You will be retiring the GO GO years. 50/ and 60/. In the 70s it is the SLOW GO years. So get in as much travel and adventure as possible. Our last trip to Europe last year was so crowded. So we just bought an RV and will be discovering America in the next few years. Best to you and yours!
