I'm sure you don't want to lead your fellow members astray, so let's just leave it be.
That seems reasonable to me (the thread starter). I do like Rick Steves’ travel programs a lot and although I’ve never taken or considered his tours I think it’s good to visit with some knowledge of history. It can really enhance the experience.
One example for me was to visit Reims (France). A city in the Champagne region with a rich past, including World War effects.
