RIP Scott Mckenzie

:(. So long, flower child. What an anthem that song became.

I saw him a few years ago in what was a No Mamas, One Papa reunion, standing in for the missing Papa who wrote that song. It still sounded great.

I always have loved his big hit song, but for most of my adult life, the song has made me slightly sad. "We" (the generation for which the song was apparently written) had great expectations that somehow "we" could and would change the world for the better. No doubt, some of us did in our own little way, but I think our generation has been a big disappointment to many (including me - and I take responsibility for my own lack of changing-the-world). RIP, indeed, Scott.
