Possibly even hitting 7k by the end of the year. If a trade deal with China is signed by then, 7k is a sure hit.

The biggest factor is going to depend on trade deals with China, Canada and Mexico. If a trade deal happens with these three countries by the end of the year (highly unlikely), then I say 7,200 is possible.

It's amazing how much the outlook changed over the year so far. I'm staying fully invested, and rebalancing as needed.

As well as I. If I've learned anything from this forum, it's stay the course, do not try to time the market and invest based on your needs. Right now, I don't need a dime of this money for the next 5 years other than in 3 years when I will be at RMD. We have a pension and SS that funds our budget at around 140% as it is. I am happily satisfied at this spending level, no real urge to spend (and in my mind waste) any more than I already do.

Surprised, but staying the course.

OK, I admit I did rebalance (probably 3rd time or 4th time this year) today at 1:58 pm (mountain time). Even taking small amounts off the table makes me feel better. ;)

Is this irrational exuberance or for real? I don't know. But, I am skimming some profits here and there. No point in being greedy.
Not skimming profits per se, but have rebalanced according to IP, so conceptually the same.

Well well, I think we spoke too soon.

Not sure what's causing the nose dive, perhaps the fear of an AI bubble.

Lots of selling off since the Govt shutdown ended. I think a lot was buy on the rumor and sell on the news. Today’s turn around was a pretty spectacular 220 point range, which is huge for the S&P500.

Also, the Dow flipped -1100 (almost) today as well. One minute I saw the Dow was up 750... A few hours later I saw it was down 350.

I don't follow the markets obsessively, but at the bottom of the business section of my Google News feed, there is a little 3-box market update.

I'll check my balances tomorrow morning, but since I changed my AA to 30/70 around three weeks ago, I've noticed my account balances have been a bit more stable than the swings I used to see.

Markets looking pretty good last couple of days.

Any new ATHs?

Including old Megacorp stock and PMs, I'm guessing a new ATH (or close to it) but who's checking?

Forget I asked - that's another thread.

Very easy to do!

All time highs were back in late October. Yes, several strong days, but we had a pretty strong sell off in November to make up for.

We do point out ATHs here when they occur to see who is winning!

ATH's are all in the "mix." For instance, since the November "low," my Megacorp stock has provided me a quarter million increase. Haven't added it all up, but I'm pretty sure there's a personal ATH in there somewhere - especially including the rebounding PMs - getting back close to their all time high's. YMMV

Yeah, for that you probably want to post here 2025 Investment Performance Thread

Home stretch time! S&P 500 closes November out at 6,849.09, happily settled in the Baby You're a Rich Man division. SloHan's guess of 6,832 is currently the closest.

For those nerdy enough to care 😂, here is how the S&P 500 (the solid black line) has tracked from January thru November against the guess divisions (the color bands). The guesses are the blue diamonds on the left. Enjoy!

My usual approach on this annual thread is to wait until the voting is about to close, then, in true "The Price is Right" style, add a dollar to the highest bid.

Instead, this year, I just went with the historical average. S&P 500 Prediction 2025

Five trading days left in the year! The S&P 500 is at a record close of 6,909.79, and the current closest guess is Qs Laptop at 6,982 - a level we'd all like to see it achieve, I'm sure. Will "Baby You're a Rich Man" be sung at the early-retirement.org members New Years Eve parties? We'll see.. :)

I dislike these high P/Es. The youngsters see stocks like an ATM.

When I see highs like this, I try to be comfortable with a nose-dive, with my portfolio's value halved. I will stay the course and be fine.

My husband had a $100 bet whether it will reach the milestone which I had set for our portfolio. Somewhere along the line, I joked that it will be $10K to me if I win and $100 to him if he loses. Now he is quite confident that I will win.

Is there an S&P500 prediction thread for 2026?
