S&P 500 Prediction 2026

S&P 500 Prediction 2026

  • Total voters
    134
  • Poll closed .
Footnote at bottom of poll:

  • This poll will close: Mar 3, 2026.
  • Multiple votes are allowed.
  • Your vote will be publicly visible.
Poll will close March 3rd? Really? That seems a bit generous. Maybe make it January 15th?
Also, multiple votes allowed? That shouldn't be permitted.
Hopefully Jollystomper will arrive and get this organized. Usually we have until Jan 10 or thereabouts to post our numbers and then jollystomper makes the official list. You are allowed multiple guesses, the last one is used for the list.

Don’t worry about the poll.

6879.82 (S&P level right now) * 1.107 (10.7% long term average) = 7615.96 (rounding down slightly).

Updated guess based on the close:

6845.50 * 1.107 = 7,577.9685

The most recent possible data and precision are important in these matters.

My Magic 8-Ball is on the Fritz.
I just checked mine. It still works. But it doesn't give me any type of a number.
However, when I checked it, it said "Not likely." - But I forgot to ask it a question. But was checking to see if it worked implying that I was asking if it was working correctly? In that case, it might be on the fritz as well.

However, for 2026, my guess is 7623.

Agree we should stop taking guesses after a week or so in January.

OMG… another wild ride in 2025. A big hiccup in April, followed by a solid recovery through the rest of the year. Plenty of ups and downs, stress, and uncertainty—but we made it.

So what will Santa bring in 2026? As a hopeful retiree, I’m staying optimistic. With the S&P 500 hovering around 6,900, I’m calling 7,300 for 2026.
What do you think? Don’t be shy—share your take on where the S&P 500 is headed next year.

I thought similar = $7,250. Rounded to $7,400 for the poll

I agree. The poll can stay open, but official predictions should be no later than end of January. Sooner is better. Not sure what date we've used in the past, but I'm sure it's mentioned in each of the years. Also, there's only one official prediction per person and it's done by way of posting in the thread, not by responding to the poll.

He's probably searching his music library for a theme. 👍 :)

I consulted my periodic table of investments and I'm going with 1.3*6845.5=8,899.

VOO has a TR of 17.8% for this wonderful year.
I'm predicting less gain for 2026, only 14%.
Hence a closing price a year from now of 7804.

Oops, I conflated increase in price with Total Return; they're not the same.
Nonetheless, I'll stick with 7804...

I voted 7800, but I will go with 7785. :)

With my continuing lack of confidence in this very narrow market advance, I voted for a 10% haircut, rounded to 6200.

Jolly Stomper, thanks for all your work each year!

My guess is 7892.

I voted 6400. I have a history of voting low, and am always surprised at the actual number. I don't make any financial decisions based on my prediction.

My trusty cat Nacho and I have peered deeply into the crystal skull. We saw the S&P 500 closing at 7932 for 2026.

I am going to go off the chart (voted 8000 since none higher) and say 8500. Mostly because I don't want to share the win with you losers.

2026: Starlink IPO $1.2 trillion, AI takes everyone's job and companies post record profits because they fire all their HR departments (robots don't complain if you talk about their servos behind their back), Russia/Ukraine finally come to a peace treaty that holds.
