Hi,

I'm flying from Phoenix to the Philippines in a few days and I have an SFO navigation question.

I will be arriving on Southwest Airlines, which uses Terminal 1. After landing I will be picking up my bags and heading over to the International Terminal to check in for the flight to Manila, on Philippine Airlines.

What's the easiest way to do this and how long should I plan?

Thanks.

As far as large airports go, SFO is fairly small and getting between terminals is fairly easy and straight forward. Just follow the signs to the international terminal. SFO doesn't have trams and buses to take people to different terminals like larger airports do simply because it's not needed. A long escalator ride is about it! SFO isn't a whole lot bigger than PHX. Take a look at SFO's website and it'll show you a. map of where you're going. I just hope you gave yourself a longer enough layover time. With SWA you never know if your flights going to on time or they cancel it and combine it with another flight later.

I know SFO well, since I've been there a gazillion times after moving away 25 years ago. SFO has AirTrain, which can make it very easy to go between terminals. If you are going from Terminal 1 to International Terminal A, you could easily walk it. To get to International Terminal G, AirTrain will probably be easier.

Thanks I will be leaving out of Int'l Terminal A. Do your suggestions reflect that I will be going to International Terminal A from T1's baggage claim area (instead of a gate)?

I have about 4 1/2 hours between the 2 flights.

Can't you check your bags through to Manilla at Phoenix, and then in SFO you don't have to worry about your bags?

I'm off on a scuba diving trip; as such I have diving gear and photography equipment to check. I would feel much safer checking bags directly with the international carrier it at all possible. Thanks.
