Share Your 2024 Milestones

Portfolio now has basically doubled since I retired almost 8 years ago. And that includes me withdrawing money every year. Incredibly grateful.
I'm 8 years in also and just about doubled also. Even with charity giving in 6 figures, buying land, buying two vehicles complete kitchen remodel and all the living expenses for 8 years how can it have doubled. Wow!!

I'm with you incredibly grateful and blessed.

I remember you and I retired around same time. Yeah, I've been giving to charity more as well and it feels great. And it doubled because of a high equity exposure! We have a had a great market and I think we both do the simple indexes which are effectively no cost.

FIRE'd in Sep 2023/43 years old at 6.1M

Unbelievably, hit 8M today (8.05M)!

New all time high for portfolio - roughly double what we had when I retired 5/2/2014.

My investments hit 7 figures yesterday!

Like many, we’ve had a few new all time highs this year!

Went over $5M net-worth not including primary or vacation homes. And to think less then 5 years ago I was excited to hit the $3M milestone and decided I'd retire with in the next year.

Today I am up one million dollars in investable assets since I retired April 2017 at age 51.

Hit $4M net worth today, a little less than 10 years after hitting the two comma club.

This is rather mind boggling to me. At this point, we have gained more than $1M since Jan. 1, and will still be so after I withdraw for next year's spending.

The above quotes are only a sample of what has been posted on this thread over the past few weeks. As I read them one word pops into my head: "Wheeee!!!"

Yes, that is true. I just bought and held since 1980 never sold a share yet or rebalanced other than what rebalancing the accounts do by themself.

Thank You and be interesting what happens in the next 8 years. Hope for good health over a bigger stash though.

Your spending is much lower too this year. Does a lot of spending happen in Dec?
For us, yes! New Laptops, phones, Christmas shopping and extra entertaining gifting going on, shoring up taxes, putting deposits down for 2025 vacay's... I spend a lot this last month...but also record earnings this month as we still are accumulating.

One reason we spend more...for instance Target just offered 10% off gift cards, DW and I dropped the max $500 a piece to save that money ahead of time. A no brainer. We do this for a few other items/services as well to lock in discounts...so it amounts to higher spending up front.

Our allocation is about 99:1, mostly index etfs, but some individual stocks. This has fluctuated and I tried market timing around Covid which set me back. Was spot on early on before the drop, but I was late getting back in.
A lot of our growth has come from income properties that we have acquired over the last eight years. Our ROI on those investments is 22% and the investment has grown 225% from an initial $250k.
After a closer look at the numbers I have found that our invested assets have grown 200% over the last ten years, including contributions, so I am lagging the s&p500 on the investment side.
Thanks for being honest about your timing. I've also timed the market once...and it didn't net me what was the equal exchange of peace of mind when I had all the dough out of the market. My thought was just take it all out. You will see in a graph I shared on my climb to 1MM there is a massive gap all of a sudden in the chart...I pulled it all out. Never had I been more stressed about the direction of the market moving then during that week or two's time. I learned A LOT! And your comment sort of cements the idea that I don't know more than anyone else so why would I try to time it. Time IN the market always better than TIMING the market.

A new first today if it holds. I’ve seen big swings of over $100k in my portfolio before, but today is the first time I’ve seen an increase of over $100,000 in a single individual stock. Broadcom (AVGO) up 25% so far today!

Today, I reached my milestone of $30 millions. Market performance has been amazing this year. I thank God for that. In retrospect, it's been a long and fulfilling journey. 3 months ago, I chose to retire for good. Now I'm focusing on family, health and personal growth. Thanks all!

$2 millions in real estates
$29 millions in securities
