Should I take a lower paying job?

Well about 10 days ago, the OP had to make a decision in a couple days, so he should have already made his decision. I hope he comes back to let us know what he decided. My guess is that he’ll not be back because the partner at a law firm doesn’t have time to chat on a retirement forum. I hope he at least starts taking more vacation time and finds a way to work on his own terms.

I think it's hard to leave behind something familiar that pays quite well for an uncertain new job situation. People on the boards are inclined to sacrifice in the short term to retire but a better work life balance now might be better. A matter of individual preference.
