Show off your dog..or other pet..and how well he/she is treated (and fed)!

One of my recent adoptees, Noah, does not care for it when I surf the net, and he expresses his disapproval as shown in the photo. He feels (quite rightly) that all of my time would be much better spent paying attention to him. 😹
LOL!

Occasionally, Birdie decides to read what I am looking at, even if he sees it from a different angle!

Then he wants to discuss the subject...

Just wanted to note that today is National Black Cat Day. https://www.nationaldaycalendar.com/national-day/national-black-cat-day-october-27 We'll be celebrating here with Joe Black (whom you've already met) and his sister Adeline the Fine.
We have a black one as well as a black and tortie. They are not litter mates but were adopted at the same time 13 years ago. We specifically adopted black cats due to the low adoption rates for them. The black one is now getting over a UTI...not happy at meds time :(.

Pinky really watches TV, and then she started watching videos on my laptop. She pokes the screen and pauses the videos with her wet nose, and enables all sorts of bad things with keyboard shortcuts.

I have a Maltese that can see tv and it’s a real pain. She barks at animals, animated animals, the weather lady with a big nose, etc. I have resorted to squirting her with water. She loves action movies and watches without barking.

It is with a heavy heart that we have to re-home Pinky. She attacked Cricket tonight and had her cornered in her crate. Once pinky's fuse is lit she is all Jack.
If anyone knows of somebody who can handle a jack and has no other pets what-so-ever, Pinky would be a loyal companion. She just cannot play reliably with others.
Peanut has been playing with her, but you can tell he is really cautious and avoids crossing her.

@skyking1

I'm so sorry it didn't work out. You have done your absolute best to honor your friend by providing a home for Pinky. It was a wonderful thing to do, but you can't put your other dogs in danger. It does sound like Pinky needs to be a solo pet, unfortunately.

I know a lot about cat rescues, but nothing really about dog rescues. I googled "Jack Russell rescue, Puget Sound" and the organization in this link popped up. Perhaps they can help you place Pinky, or point your toward another rescue that can help?

There is one stipulation on their website to be aware of. They state that they can't place dogs with "a history of severe aggression toward other dogs" - but I'm not sure if Pinky's issue actually qualifies as severe, or if it's something common among Jacks?

Here's a blurb from the section of their website titled "Putting Your Dog Into Rescue"

Stuff happens. People lose their homes, people get transferred, someone dies, the new job takes up way too much time – and there is no longer enough time or space for a highly active dog. When this happens and you need to find a new home for your Jack, we can help you.

As a rescue, our priority is dogs already in shelter situations and our foster space is limited. Owner dogs usually have to wait their turn if they need to come in to foster care. We can however help you place your dog out of your home by posting the dog online and pre-screening applicants. Since we are extremely selective about our adopters, this can be a long process, and it depends very much on the age, training level and ‘issues’ the dog has. In order to have your dog posted on Petfinder and our website, you will need to contact our adoption coordinator. You will be asked to complete a personality profile and also send us three or four good digital photos.

We will pre-screen all applications – only the ones we consider suitable will be forwarded to you for the final decision. In return, you will be asked to let us know if you place the dog elsewhere. If the dog is placed through Jack Russell Rescue OWII, the adoption fee paid by the adopter goes to Jack Russell Rescue OWII to help less fortunate dogs. We will hold the adoption contract and do followup to make sure the dog is doing well in its new home and/or troubleshoot any issues the adopters may have. This process requires that you – the owner – be candid about your dog and communicate fully with JRR OWII throughout the process.

They sound knowledgeable about Jack Russells, and they appear to be devoted to the breed. I hope they can help you, or if not, maybe they can guide you towards an organization that can.

Best of luck to you and to Pinky.

We just took in a dog last night. We are fostering him until after Christmas to get him out of the kennel he's been in for the last 2 months and prepping him for home life as a Veterans support dog.
We haven't had a dog since Sept of 2022.

I'm sorry @skyking1.

(I ended up with my son's pet because she did not get along with his wife's dog.)

It happens. The dog in my profile pic is a rescue that failed in her first rescue home after being unable to get along with (attacking) another dog in the home. It turns out that my dog simply hates others of her kind. It works in our house because we have no other pets, and she is quite gentle with humans. I keep her leashed at all times when other dogs are present. It's challenging, but she is my favorite dog ever. I also understand how difficult her life started out and why she is the way she is.

With this dog it's all of that. I also think she would go after a cat too because she has extremely strong prey drive and if a cat tried to correct her, I think her response would be fatal.

We contacted them immediately and are filling out the paperwork.
