For us the difference between $7 per month and $6 per month or even less is not worth the hassle of extended arguing or allowing the service to self-cancel. Call it BTD. YMMV

We’ve had free subscriptions on and off over the years. For some reason we can’t really settle on the programming. We gravitate towards podcasts, our stored music and books on tape.

I let it lapse and within 2 months they come back to me with the lowest rate, which recently for me was 4.48 monthly all in.
I used to fight with them, but go this route now.

So I canceled the service on 06/12 and the offer came back yesterday. The original 4.48 monthly charge is now $5.65 monthly all in.
I do hear many of the channels and this methodology works and the service is worth it to me.
I even told them upon cancellation that they will just come back to me with the lower price.

This thread made me check. We're at 12.98 including all taxes and stuff per month. I hardly use it favoring spotify instead, but for the few times I don't connect to spotify, the buck and half a year seems worthy. I dunno.

If you are willing to cancel it once a year and have it reinstated once a year, then you can halve your charges at a minimum.
The total amount of work is around 15 minutes.

I wish I could do that with other monthly services - like cable and internet. I once tried "bargaining" with my secondary internet company and they said "no!" I asked to speak with a supervisor. I explained to her that my use of their service was extremely limited (more of a back up to my regular high-speed service). I thought they would at least let me have their "introductory rate" but they said "no!"

I guess they have plenty of customers willing to pay a high price for a slow speed internet.

I currently am on a SiriusXM 3 month free trial on my new EV. When it expires, I don’t plan to renew. I do love listening to music in my car and have a Tidal music subscription. For a single $11.99/month, I stream music in my Tesla which supports the app, new Nissan Leaf which also supports the app, at home on my Sonos speakers through their Sonos app, and through my earbuds on my cellphone when I go on my daily walks. Being able to pick out albums is a plus for me. I never cared for the way Sirius would charge for each device rather than a single account, but there may be other family plans that work out better.

$5.68 per month for one car with app. I used to call and negotiate each year when they re-upped me at their full rates. This year they would not go below $80 for the year, so I said, that does not sound like $6 a month, so I guess I'm cancelling. Been doing that on rinse and repeat for about a decade or more?

And to my surprise, they said, ok, you're cancelled. I also got zero follow up emails saying Please Come Back (perhaps I had opted out of annoying emails at some point). But I want to have it for $6 a month, so I found a coupon on Reddit and signed up about a week after they dumped me.

I like it mainly for the POTUS channel (for balance non-partisan political news...mostly), DH likes it for Howard on occasion, and I like some of the music channels. I like their holiday channels, nice for a Christmas party, and the Spa channel for quiet background music when relaxing. I like to say I subscribed for Howard; I renew for Julie Mason.

I was at Liberty for 30+ years. They raised the rates a lot one year. I asked them that if I quit and then the next month come back as a new customer, would that rate be cheaper than my 30+ year loyal customer rate?
They stated yes. I said you know is absurd and switched the next day.

You need to call and argue with them every year and I can always get them down to $5/month or lower. I threaten to unsubscribe all four cars immediately if they don't meet my price, and with some haggling, they always do. It's like the cable company trained these people how to operate their business.

Or if one wishes to take the "retirement" mode, one lets the subscription expire for a month, then get the same $5 monthly pricing with no haggling.

We have Sirius in one car, where it’s now rarely used, and home via internet, where it’s on much of the day. Cost is $9.01 including tax. Only music here, no talk radio.

When we’re back in South Fla I’m thinking of trying Apple Music. With our recently upgraded audio system I can hear the low quality digital signal, even with my advanced age and declining hearing. Also, the Sirius playlist repeated too frequently.

I'm still rocking with my lifetime sub bought back in 2003. Hilarious to think I needed to have an Aux switch installed in my 2001 Civic (at Circuit City!) to block out radio interference to the PNP models from back then. $500 for 23 years and counting seems like a reasonable deal

I think I'm in the $6ish range per month each for my truck and Jeep. I call to cancel just before my subscription runs out, and we work out a deal.

Had it in both car and pickup, rarely listened to anything on it. Let it expire years ago.
Usually around major holidays they turn it on. Still can't find anything to worthvhile on it.
Besides, living in a mountains, the thing cuts out frequently.

My entertainement is on USB sticks in both. CD player in the suburban.

Yesterday I was making a booking on booking.com, and even before I finished it offered me a 4-month free subscription to the Sirius XM app. This is not the car-connected subscription, but you can certainly play the app in your car. This might have been because I'm a former Sirius customer, or because I'm a booking Genius (blush) or maybe because I use the same email address on both.

There's also a $1 for 3 months promo on the website now, and that's for car AND app. If this turns out to be a "new customer" thing, remember you can put dots anywhere in your email address, and most websites will think it's not the same. E.g., abcd.efg@gmail.com and a.b.c.d.e.f.g@gmail.com are the same as abcdefg@gmail.com to the email system, but different for most website registration purposes. Some will also accept the abcdefg+sirius@gmail.com form, but I think Sirius doesn't.

OK, I am not the only one here with a Sirius radio subscription. I have one for my old 2012 Chevrolet pickup. One for the house an another for DW's car. That makes three.

DW's car is about $6 a month since she got it when she bought it new last December. Me ? I fight with them all the time when they raise my price from $6 or so to whatever their new monthly rate is (about $25). I call them and talk with someone a long ways away and we get it back down to where it was.

Now I am paying $19 each for my old truck and the house. Plus $6 for DW's car. I guess I can live with that, but if I don't watch it the rate will go up over $30 on my credit card and I have to catch it.

How do you all handle your Sirius accounts ?

I just have it in my car. I only listen to Channel 69, Broadway songs. I dicker with them every year to keep it around $8.00 with tax.

Got a new Honda Ridgeline and after the 3 months was sent a letter getting given another 3 months for $2. I always set a reminder and called telling it was not worth the $$ and they ask what is it worth and i said $5 a month. gave me three other offers but finally came back with $4.99 and month for a year. Funny thing i have XM forever but this time they are charging MONTHLY. I set another reminder a week before the 1 year to cancel or renew.
